Actually I hope they do win. Just to get their hopes up. And hopefully Detroit loses so hearts can be broken by pens. It’s exactly what this team deserves and the fans wanting them to make playoffs deserve - Stayin alive
The Detroit Redwings making the playoffs will be tougher on some Authentic fans than Pittsburgh getting in. The ones who creamed their jorts when Chuck turned Ghost into Risto three years ago. |

This is from last night:
Imagine being worried about the Seeler and Poehling extensions.
Can’t use a TK extension as an example seeing as it hasn’t happened.
And regardless, they still need to ice a team unless the plan is to bring up the entire Phantoms roster. |

If a 30 year old third pairing dman helps you get get to a bottom 12 finish, then you gotta lock that guy up for four years. You just have to. Especially when your 29 year old third pairing dman only managed to play 31 games all season due to undisclosed injuries. |

Haven't checked his Corsi, but I see that he's scored about as many points as the 4th liners the Flyers are paying more than double what the Caps are paying NAK.
Wonder if Big Nic checks back in for this must win game. Still two more years left on his deal. |

This draft by most evaluators is pretty much the same between 2-13 as far a prospective talent. The Flyers will have a chance to get a good player just a matter if they wlll choose correctly. Last year was a promising draft but they have to do it again. - psuhockey
2-13 is not exactly accurate.
The consensus is there's a second tier of 2-3 players after Celebrini, then there's a tier below that where the Flyers will be picking that's about a dozen players deep.

I believe out of the 2, Silayev is the most likely to slide. Top 15 prospects seem to be more blueline heavy. It would be wild if Silayev is still on the board at pick 10. - Trox88
He might be. He's currently got no offensive game to speak of.
And who knows, maybe Demidov slides like MM did. Not just the Russia-thing, but his skating speed is a bit of an issue. Doubt he'll slide all the way to #12 tho. |

If buium isn’t in that second grouping throw the whole thing out the window |

First of all, I am somewhat skeptical of this premise. If this was the case, evaluator rankings would be pretty random from 2-13.
2nd, if this was indeed true, there is still a case for finishing lower in standings. Guarantee someone will disagree and value some prospect very highly and want to trade up. If you are low enough, you can trade them your first, take the slide and pick up maybe another first for next year.
So, lets not pretend it's all the same. There is an opportunity cost to picking lower, if not a direct cost.

It would be disrespectful to put him in after sitting him so much.

Oh great! I didn’t miss the daily Torts, Nick D and Risto crying. I was worried I wouldn’t get here on time. |

Of course they need to ice a team but should that team be made up of young players or vets. I have no issue with Poehling as a player. I think his deal was a tad high. The issue I have concerning Poehling is the coach using him as a top center. Same with Seeler as a top 4 defenseman. Both are core players in Tortorella's eyes. Grinders who have balls.

I think your general premise is correct here. I just don't think there will be the value of players in this draft to fetch another first for next year in addition to swapping picks in this upcoming draft.

Flyers will turn up another middle-six F or middle-pair D at #12.
Exactly what we're missing.
1OA is for losers. And the Flyers aren't that. - Tomahawk
If we're lucky. This draft doesn't seem particularly strong after the top 10.

Some 3rd tier guys I like are Connelly (off ice issues meh, but skill), Jerome's kid and Zeev.
Who I really like in the 2nd tier is Berkly Catton, but knowing the Flyers he will slide and be picked right before them.

Again the same was said about 2017....Hischier overtook the majority of the season ranking leader Patrick then the DROP OFF.
The 2nd tier of mehs like Makar, Pettersson, Heiskanen, Mittelstadt.
Then you got the maybe tier of Suzuki, Robert Thomas and that booger Oettinger.

Hypothetical: if Flyers lose tonight they’ll have the 12th pick. Assuming they don’t win the lottery and remain at 12, what do you think it would take to move up to at least the 8th pick and would you make that deal? |

I would think the late 1st rounder would get that done. Not sure who they’d target |
