I agree, and I think Treliving will want to shake things up roster-wise as well, they've been going at it with the same recipe again and again for way too long.
whether he'll be able to make the right moves and avoid making any horrible mistakes remains to be seen, but an important trade or two should be on the horizon if they lose again in the first round. - Pat1993
Yep ... at least one of the core 4 will be no more IMO.
The problem is passing those huge 10+ mil contracts to other teams ... retain salary? |

Matthews is not going anywhere, noone will take Tavares.
that leaves Marner and or Nylander.
maybe a team like Seattle would be interested.
but with the cap going up, I think they'll keep the core intact. Tavares only has 2 years left I think. |

well, ideally they should be going for either an established goalie or a top dman, or both, so there's salary that should come back their way as well.

that doesn't solve anything on the backend or in net though.

if there's a way to (frank) it up even more... you can count on Treliving to do so. |

Agreed ... Matthews is staying put.
I just checked ... Tavares and Marner each have 1 more year on their contracts. They just resigned Nylander for 8 years @ 11.5 mil.
All the above players have NMC ... |

would be kinda (frank)ed up though if they all chose to stay... I mean you'd think some of them would surely like to get out of there and play in a different market, what's the point in staying and being part of a collective embarrassment year after year? |

Yeah, I'd want to get the hell out of there too.
My bet would be on Marner being moved this summer ... he has only one year left on his contract and might be the "most tradeable". His historical playoff performances might make other teams hesitant though. |

that concern is probably valid for any leafs player
but seriously though Marner has 47pts in 51 playoff games, so he might not be a beast in the post-season but it isn't that horrible either... |

Oh! .. it's much better than I thought then, I hadn't checked.
My perception of him is that everytime I watch him in the playoffs, he kind of disappears when it gets physical. |

this could also be applied to many leafs players
this year they did manage to add a bit more grit and depth, but it certainly didn't show tonight, the Bs played well but TOR simply played like hot garbage.

the issue with the core is not that they are bad players, but that they are all alike.
if one of them was a Tkachuk instead of a Marner... or a Kopitar instead of a Tavares... they'd already be a better team. as it stands they will never win anything.
they also need a leader. a real one. NYI lost Tavares for nothing and have been better for it ever since. again, good player, but not what they need since they already have 3 others just like him. meanwhile, ROR brought his team in the playoffs and Hyman scored 50+ in EDM. |

yeah they need a skilled guy who can also turn into a barbarian when needed to be part of the leadership group, which could help tremendously in developing the team's overall self-esteem on the ice... |

Only a matter of time one of those hits #1 on the charts, and then a big legal battle over who gets the credit / money / etc...

that legal battle may go on among charlatans until true artificial intelligence is created, which would be the equivalent of an actual computerized human consciousness.
at that point AI will be able to fully articulate its thoughts, and defend any important legal rights it could be involved with... |

I know that song featuring Post Malone is kind of boring, I was expecting some kind of original hip-hop twist but it's just a very bland pop song lol.
