I always agreed that I didn’t think they’d make the opening night roster barring the GM completely whiffing the offseason.
Now I’m confused what we are even conversing about. - Swedish_Jesus
The GM whiffing the offseason is a very real possibility based on recent history. |

Joel Ferabee has 4 years left at 5M per.
Could be an interesting buy low candidate. - Swedish_Jesus

Are there better options, 100%.
Do they carry 4 years of term with a $5M AAV ? Probably not.
Not sure what the underlyings look like, but that could be a solid option imo |

This HC Hire will tell a lot about what's to come this Offseason IMO. A coach that Adams supposedly wants to hire with Experience is gonna want some Power. |

he should be
heads and shoulders above anything else out there if the canes do not sign him - homiedclown
Wonder why the canes would let him get away?!?
He’d be a great coach for this team and it would probably force skinner out the door.
I just do not see the Canes letting him go and I have my doubts on Adam’s being able to close the deal, friendship or not…. |

If terry wasn’t a pissing sitting down kind of guy, he would offer Rod a contract bigger than what Babkock got. Fans would love it. |

Quinn and Peterka produced at higher rates while dealing with similar circumstances. - kingcong39
They stayed healthy. Didn't see the cheap shot on Kulich, but heard Appert's comments on it. Can't control that. |

Kulich also just turned 20 like last week. He played at a PPG clip till the WJC, and has been humming the last 20 games after his dry month.
Quinn was 6 months older his D+2 year. Helps a tad.
Not saying Kulich will be as a good as Quinn, but what he did as a 19 year old across two seasons in the AHL is impressive |

So they got a guy that's just as bad as Rene Rancourt? 😂 It has to be intentional at this point. (frank)ing atrocious. |

Jack Quinn only played in 45 games his 2nd season in the AHL. |

He was the oldest player in the draft that year.
He effectively played an extra year of junior then Kulich did.

It sure is.
Does Kulich need to be Quinn level productive in the AHL before getting a real chance in the NHL?
Is that even a fair ask for a late 1st round pick to be compared in any way to an 8th overall pick?
Probably not. |

I don’t think there are many holes. They have more than enough cap space to play the free agency market and enough ammo to make trades without blowing up the prospect pool.

What happens with Joker will be interesting, maybe he’s part of the trade package to fill one of those blanks. - Swedish_Jesus
To go back to this...
Peterka, Tage, Tuch
Benson, Cozens, Quinn
Skinner, Kulich, Rosen
Greenway, Krebs, somebody actually good
If the Sabres go with the above, while I think it would mean another no playoffs season, I would understand it, as they'd be all in on their prospects and actually be giving them a real chance. |

I personally think Kulich is ready myself, but given the log jam he may have to start in the AHL which is perfectly ok.
That’s why I’ve been saying I think all three of Rosen, Kulich, and Savoie can and very well should be NHL regulars at some point next season |

I don't see an avenue to making that happen, absent a season ending injury, aside from leaving spots open for some or all of them, or signing replaceable, placeholder players to start the season in positions that Rosen, Kulich and Savoie would eventually take over at some point during the season.
The result would likely mean trading or waiving the placeholders. |

So the Sabres built to play that type of 1st period in the Boston game throughout the playoffs that I just watched. Buffalo would get eaten alive! IMO |
