How many guys are out there who want to drop a billion on the Sabres and keep them in Buffalo? |

I still think it's the slimmest of chances they would get moved.

Houston will want to keep a weapon-themed team name, but will most certainly change it to guns. |

We just saw how much it takes to move a team.
Sabres aren't playing in the Harbour Center yet.

Any Sabres fan living in Buffalo hoping the Sabres will be sold is a fool. They're gone if they're sold. See how happy they'll be then. |

It would breach the contract if the team moved. Golisano made sure of that. They'd get sued easily and that's even if they convinced Bettman to allow the move, which he's said before he would not even entertain. The team is staying for now. We can circle back in a decade when it's sold again, but simply put, this is much ado about nothing. |

Yeah ok Councilor. It will take a week to drum up a Fiscal Report concluding they're not economically viable staying where they are. |

Save the week of effort, it wouldn't affect the outcome boyo. Team isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Bet the ranch if you can find a dummy. |

Benson had an extended rough stint too. Takes some time to adjust and they didn't let that process start. KA's never had a plan for these kids and it bothers me. The longer he waits, the tougher it gets. Now he needs to win next year to keep his job. Time for 4 rookies? - Lunaion
You'll perhaps remember me making this point earlier this season when I was rail8ng on Adams and Donnie for playing the old Vets (Girgs, Okie, EJ) and Jost at the expense of and blocking the playing of a couple youngins in their place ... like RyJo, Kulich and Rosen. I was comp,ain8 g that it means they will then have to integrate those young player into the '24-'25 season when they are meant to be seriously competing and expected to make some noise.
I was assured, vehemently even that Adams wasn't going against his word of not block8ng the youngins. I was right then, and absolutely brlliant now, lol.

Right, because the person selling the team still owns a NFL team in the same city. Pegula isn't going to sell the team to someone to move, he will put the same clauses in that Tommy G put in for him.

Zero zip, nada.
Terry has difficulty having the team make money now...wait until a heavy debt load is dropped on the Financials... bye, bye Sabres.
I will say the Sarasota Sabres has a nice ring to it. Could really create a very nice southeast division with the Panthers, Bolts, Thrashers, Sabres, Predators, Stars and Hurricanes in it. |

Who is suing who and for what? Was there a term limit, or are the Sabres stuck in Buffalo for eternity. I have my doubts about the iron clad conceptof that must stay in Buffalo.

Should probably try looking at a map. Dallas is about as far from any of those teams as Winnipeg is from literally everyone. If They moved a team to Houston, a geographic rivalry with Dallas makes sense and I'll even give you Tampa Bay and Miami, especially Tampa as a fantastic cross-bay rivalry... But Carolina could just as easily be in the Metropolitan division and Nashville in a Central/Midwest Division.
The current alignment is ridiculous.
There should be a Pacific, Mountain, Central, Northeast, Southeast and Metropolitan divisions.
Pacific: Vancouver, Anaheim, San Jose, Seattle, Los Angeles
Mountain: Edmonton, Calgary, Utah, Colorado, Vegas
Central: Winnipeg, Minnesota, St. Louis, Dallas, Chicago, Columbus
Northeast: Buffalo, Detroit, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Montreal
Southeast: Washinton, Carolina, Nashville, Florida, Tampa Bay
Metropolitan: Boston, NYI, NYR, New Jersey, Philadelphia
Don't sleep on Columbus possibly relocating at some point by the end of the decade. I'd put them and Ottawa as teams on the move before Buffalo. Columbus is owned by Worthington Industries, which is a local steel manufacturer in Columbus, so it would take quite the offer to move them but if they don't find success and a new arena by 2030, I could realistically see them as a dark horse for relocation. The NHL can say all day long that it's been a successful market, but Columbus has Ohio State and the Columbus Crew, which obviously Ohio State is #1 but from what I could tell, the soccer team was more popular and successful than the NHL team. On top of that, you have Cincinnati with the Reds and Bengals and Cleveland with the Guardians, Browns and Cavaliers both within a 2 hour drive, Detroit and Pittsburgh both within a 3 hour drive...
Columbus moves to Houston, Ottawa to Atlanta, Buffalo stays put and Arizona gets a team back by 2030 making a very crowded 34 team league in a sport that has dozens of developmental leagues and an already watered down talent pool. But if it means we have guys getting 100 assists and 70 goals again, screw it, I'm in. |
