It's absolutely inexcusable that the Caps and Islanders made it and we didn't
- sbroads24

There were 4 Sabre groups who contributed to not meeting expectations...although one of those groups would add a 5th. Only 1 was held accountable.

-Ownership: nothing changes. I mean why would it with all the success it has had over 14 years.

-Front Office: apparently nothing changes here. They are not accountable and what is worse they pointed a finger at 1 other group solely...what Adams forgot is that 3 other fingers are pointed squarely at his group, and deservedly so.

-Coaching Staff: unfortunately a good guy by all accounts who also had a positive impact on many players took it squarely on the chin. That said, Donnie earned this firing. Only issue is Adams pussied out by not firing Wilford nor Ellis, who cares if their contract end this year...it would have been very symbolic to poop can the entirety of the staff. I'm glad Donnie had the opportunity to throw those players under the bus as well.

-Players: IMO the likeability of this group took a big hit by being so cavalier about the lack of effort they put out on the ice, the way they threw Donnie under the bus to save themselves, and the immaturity they displayed culminating with the giant FU sent to the fans who brought too much pressure, noise and negativity. This group had the audacity to accuse the fans for being responsible for their on ice play.

Did you just compare the best hockey player finishing his career to a meh, 2nd/3rd liner with very limited upside and a douchy approach to playing hockey?

he makes a dumb statement on the kid perhaps being on 4 teams in 3 years implying he stinks because of it, so yeah I went there

The players allegedly here to provide leadership approved that. Can you imagine?

narrator: special teams did in fact matter for this iteration of the Buffalo Sabres.

to be real though, he said for the most part special teams didn't matter much

IMO, this past season has proven that there absolutely is more than just skill .
- IonSabres

skill is more than just scoring goals

you can make a case we are not a top 10 team in the east for skill

It has been 5 days since the Penguins' season ended.
Safe to say Adams can cross Sullivan off his target list.
Does his Expedited Plan allow him to wait for Rod?

I disagree. That team should be a PO team, but they wilted, caus3d by alot of things, but what's between the ears and in the chest are two of them.

effort can overcome a lot of issues and this team got the goaltending needed to be a top 6 team in the east, once donnie started to play 6k

too many times they came out soft, lazy and lacking effort

I am sure coaching played a part but changing the coach will not fix all issues

🤣🤣😂😂

Expectation around NHL is Mark Stone plays for Vegas tonight — yet again activated off LTIR just in time for playoffs.

Talked to several players & front office executives about it. While jokes fly about cap circumvention, everyone agrees: nothing will/can change until next CBA.

Have there been any roomers from Gerbe or anyone else with sources? I haven't been on here in a while. I did see ExpectedBuffalo say that Berube was presumed to be the front-runner and that Lindy was not yet in the race.

I think the biggest problem with this team is that once they accomplished something, they felt alright to stand around and admire it for a while. I suspect that can be overcome with a coach that won't let them feel good about themselves.

That is a Texas Sized 10-4 there.

Of course it mirrors the team.................................

Couldn't agree more.
Coach should be able to get the team ready to play, install a competing system the team can implement, establish optimized lines, hold players accountable to some degree (reduced playing time, line assignment, scratch all together).
Players need to come prepared mentally and physically and learn how to hold each other accountable, shut out the noise (mentally prepared) and give 100% if they don't give 110%.
Front Office needs to find and sign suitable NHL players...not waiver claims and trades for a 13th F for futures. Actual GD Trades and proper FA 's.

That is alot to accomplish for an organization that has zero history of doing so.

At the end of the year when we had a poope bottom 6? Maybe. I think between the kids coming up and the moves we will make, we will easily be in middle of the top 10. We are looking for 3 - 4 forwards in the bottom 6 and probably one more D. That isn't a huge lift given the resources available to us.

Quite the indictment of the #1 prospect pool...to depend on the goalie...

5 acquisitions is quite the heavy lift for this GM when looking at his history of doing so.
He needs 2-L4, 1-L3, 1-Top 6 and potentially 1-Top4. 2 Trades and 2 FA for the Forward group, and 1 Trade for Top4 D if he chooses to go that way.
