I don’t think you tinker with the forward lines but if better players are ready you find a way to get them in. - Canada Cup
Yeah, and if Willy is ready, you have to play him.
McMann? He wasn't even skating as of yesterday, so he's probably not playing this series at all.
Right now I feel like the 3rd line is a real liability out there and while they haven't cost us any direct goals that I can recall, it feels like it's only a matter of time.
Ideally we'd ice something like this, to really spread the attack around and let Keefe roll 4 lines:
Marner makes that line a lot better defensively and his game IQ/situational awareness would mean that they should be able to dominate when they're on the ice against the B's 3/4 lines, but also not get completely caved in on a mismatch, like if they had to go up against Pasta's line.
Marner could get some shifts in with Matthews too.

Hard game and good win for the Leafs. Very unexpected to me. Hope it loosens them up a little bit more cuz they looked good tonight.
Really nice to see some balls to their game too. If they were a bit better at the dirty/gritty game = less penalties .......and MOAR WINS!!!
Sammy did gooooodddd!
PS....Anyone want Hyman back at his price and have a extra $6M for D/G or hold on to both Willy and Marner still? - underhill14
We dont have a McJesus.
Hyman would have to play with a marner type on the leafs just to get to 40 goals, a great set up type player.
Playing with Matthews, most pucks would go towards matthews for goal attempts
It would increase hymans assist for sure.
Sammy was great.
Having two 10+ million wingers is difficult on the cap. Could see a change or they keep both, get over next year (which will be tough cap wise) and build out missing pieces from the cap bump the following year

If Nylander comes back put him on line 2 with Tavares. Drop Marner to line 3 and try and give him some space out there.
The 4th line seemed pretty money last night. They were the only line that seemed to have a sustained forecheck and were able to hem the B's in their zone.
I'd scratch Knies for the next game. To me he looked a bit outmatched there last night and took a couple big hits.
Wrong about what? Sammy had a great game, he had a bad game in game 1.
I’m happy he was lights out and the leafs won.
I just think Woll is better and is the better option. It Sammy can keep playing like he did last night and woll doesn’t touch the ice im happy.
You want me to cheer against Sammy for some reason…I hope he gets a shutout every game for the rest of playoffs. - Santo_44
You're being obtuse and moving goal posts as your usual self.
Samsonov and the leafs in fact didn't have a bad game 1. The score isn't a good indicator of how well they played. Bad penalties for sure and just couldn't get some bounces.
Anyone who said they believed in Reaves before basically February is 100% lying. - gravyface
ez there bud
I've been on board with this since he signed back in July with the Leafs.
Granted it was a tough start to the year for him going -13 to start the season

But you'll keep being Santo so good for you

Cool man if you think Sammy had a good game game 1 that’s great for you, I don’t think that. I don’t care to argue it either, it’s just my opinion.
