Ya he's also getting close to that 35+ age which opens up some options for deferring cap hit (if needed).
Either way I'd be shocked if it's north of $5M and multi-year'd unless he finds a way to be a ppg guy again.
Although the Leafs did give Marleau 6+ for 3 years when he was about to turn 38. - The Law
and that was such a bad (frank) up by Lou it cost Dubas a first rounder just to get rid of him |

Ya but they needed him to put the kids (34, 16, 88) to bed.
The 3rd year was lunacy. |

Man… this I agree with… having him here for that price made me think Lou was losing his mind due to his age. |

No, play whoever is hot currently
Sammy is very inconsistent
Very good or very bad
Woll is the future, cheap and young
Not sure why some are already giving up on him
At worst, he is the backup next year - mr.sir
I don't see anyone who has given up on Woll - you posting "in Woll we trust" daily makes it seem like you have given up on Sammy though - food for thought.
Woll has not proven he can be consistent enough (nor have enough NHL experience) to be given the reins though - at least not IMO. Why throw him to the wolves as the next great hope between the pipes in Toronto and risk ruining him?
Woll is a part of the future of the Leafs situation between the pipes as it sits now I agree (and def. want him to be) I'm not sure in what role but I can't see him suddenly being the starter next year but maybe?
I'd prefer he shares the net in a 1A / 1B situation (vs a traditional starter/back up thing) if possible but the key is to find that other guy. This is why I was hoping the Leafs could maybe get MAF but that's not happening now.
Sammy could be back, his play since Jan has been great and if this is the new Sammy the Leafs could prbably get him on a 2 or 3 year deal on the cheap due to the start of this year.
I'd actually be fine with a Sammy and Woll duo again - just need that 3rd string guy like Jones was this year if you can get one.

He won’t be that 2 years from now… lucky to get 50-60 next year.. after that 40 tops and no longer even dependable enough to play a full season
Keep rolling those unthinking eyes tho - Dozzer
Why not? He’s 33
Plenty of 32-33 year olds have a down year and speed up again.
Just look at ROR.
He’s been a PPG player every season since coming here except last season. No reason to think he can’t get 70-80 points next year. |

Try again. He will be 34 next year and 35 to start his next contract. Older than RoR by a couple years come contract time.
Sign cheap or leave.
My guess is he will sign cheap plain and simple. Any GM that doesn’t see this shouldn’t be in the NHL. |

Glad he’s working out I guess… proves moving on from Lou was the right choice at least. |

Like I said… worth losing him because it got the leafs to move on from Lou and even if they kept the puck Dubas would have picked someone else anyways *shrugs* |

Ok, this is reasonable
AA definitely gave up on Woll (maybe Dozzer)
The initial convo was JT signing for 1.5m
Which led to criticism of me for liking Woll
Then I replied about Justin Holl
Then Sammy
Also, I’ve never like MAF
Man, I need to get back to work |
