UPL has way too many holes in his game.
For 15 games of his entire career he played well. The rest. He was a loose cannon and reverted back to old ways.
You aren’t paying upl 6 years for xxx of dollars. No way. If we do. We are in major major trouble - Sabretooth9
Really, UPL started 27 games this year he had over a .920 save Percentage, could throw in about 15 more that were above .900. I don't think you actually watch the games. |

So you think upl is good? He’s our next Ryan miller.
If the answer is no. Then I am correct about upl - Sabretooth9
He may end up being similar, as he is in a good track to being so. He posted a . 910 in his age 24 season playing in 53 games on a team who has virtually no clue on how to play well defensively. The League Average was .898..that is significantly better.
Miller, in his age 25 season posted .914 in 48 games, the fell to .911 and .906 in subsequent seasons. That . 906 was exactly League Average for the '07-'08 season, while his two previous seasons (.916 and .911) were significantly better than league average,
So, good tracking against Miller, if that is your target, yes.
Personally, I was never a big fan of Miller's... Hasek definitely spoiled me. |

6K never cried in front of reporters after giving up 7 goals in a game
so there is that
side note
if Miller was a Euro, he never would have been overhyped |

Jeff Skinner moving down to a “fourth-line” role isn’t ideal for a $9 million forward. However, I think that he could be effective with Jiri Kulich and Krebs as an energy/scoring line. Good teams have four lines that can score. Keeping him around one more year also gives them the flexibility to be moved up the lineup in an injury situation.
- kingcong39
I'd. Rather get him more ice time with good talent to see if he can pot 25-30.
If he has trouble like he experienced the 2nd half of this season then.. let him slide down. |

On this day in 1993, Rick Jeanneret had one of the most iconic calls in NHL history after Brad May scored the overtime winner for the @BuffaloSabres to sweep its First Round series against the Bruins. #StanleyCup |

Fair point on preferring others, but how many of those others are available, even with a potential overpay? - kingcong39
Wish I knew. There were not a ton of big deals last summer, I assume this year will be a bit more wide open, but only time will tell. |

More from Friedman today:
"The coaching search got done in six days. How long have the Ottawa Senators been without a coach? How long have the St. Louis Blues been without a coach?
All you have to do is look at the evidence to say 'this was not an in-depth coaching search.' "

He's looking very solid in net again so far this PO season.
I agree that $10m serves to restrict what a team can do, but damn it hasn't hurt them thus far.
It is possible that Sam doesn't chase only the money in the off-season.. he'll still get paid handsomely, but maybe he views where he is at as a once in a lifetime situation and takes less to stay.
Panthers did ok without Montour earlier in the season IIRC, he could be expendable. |

No it was not, but who FVCKING cares. Sullivan is still on Pitt and I doubt Rod leaves the Canes.
So it was between several similar guys, novices to the NHL were eliminated, rightfully so. |

Dude was literally saying the other day how your best players in the playoffs need to be the goalie. Nothing else matters.
Now the goalie is the reason they will have Ruint their franchise forever. |

I don't mind the hire, but it is the same old same old with the Sabres. I hope it works, we shall see. |

Elliot curiously gives a massive poop about this. I can tell you from personal experience that it's definitely not hard to find the best candidate in a matter of six days from a pool of, in reality, what, five choices?
Pro optics, Lindy is actually a good coach that fills the needs of this roster
Cons optics, "but Terry likes him so of course"
Doesn't (frank)ing matter if Terry likes him.

This is how they handled the Kevyn Adams hire, which actually deserved scrutiny.
Elliot is projecting the butthurt from the coach agents looking for a job. I (frank)ing guarantee it. |
