6X $4.6M
No NMC/NTC or Bonus clauses according to CapFriendly, but it's still unconfirmed waiting on details.
Two years longer than I prefer, but considering the number, I'm not upset about it. - Chunk
would be a good deal for the Hawks because it buys out Vlasic's first UFA year.

I don't think he was eligible for either (perhaps could have had a NMC in the last year).
Seems like an underpay. Good for the Hawks, not so good for the kid perhaps. |

This is a great move for Vlasic and the Hawks. I don't mind the length of the deal at all. I also love the cap #. I thought he was going to go over 5M/year. He will get better as this team and roster fill out more.
One off-season priority off the checklist. On to the next! |

There were some posters here talking $6M per. $4.6M is a good deal now, if he progresses in 2 years as well as he has so far, it will look like a steal.
One of the things I was interested to see, was KD able to sign without drastically overpaying? So far so good. |

Not really. Lots of comparisons to Samuelsson in Buffalo. He got one less year, and a bit more cash. The guys who put up points are the ones who get paid the higher dollars. |

Yet the ones who prevent are arguably more important to the team. |

The pot calling the kettle black?
Hey old is old...this week, for whatever reason my 74 yr old self fell asleep in from of my viewing of last years Hlinka-Gretzky, to review the play of some possible 2025's.
But I am not here, saying Sleepy Elbows15 to everyone....

You don't have to make the argument to me. If I had a defenseman that I knew would never let up a goal when on the ice, I would pay him Karlsson money even if he never put a point on the board. |

We can revisit in a few years. I predict the contract will be seen as a big steal within a couple years. |

Thats what worries me if they should select Buium or Parekh, defense takes a backseat to offense. |

It's all about balance, no? I'm sure a lot of the Hawks problems this year stemmed from the fact that very few of their defensemen had the ability to accurately complete a pass. Lots of turnovers, and takeaways by the opponents which hemmed the team in their own end. Top that with not being able to get many shots through or knowing how/when to pinch and you have the recipe for long nights.
The nice thing about Vlasic (and Kaiser and KK) is that he seems to be able to know how and where to exit the zone without too much issue. Give them some competent forwards that know how to be a good outlet and can actually receive a pass and you might have something.
I was really impressed with Kaiser's ability here on his recall late in the year. so calm and able to put the puck on his forward's stick with enough touch to not explode when it hits their stick, but enough zip to not get stolen. |

That’s why I would not make those picks, give me the 50 point defenseman that is good in the defensive zone. I’d take Levshunov or Lindstrom if Celebrini is not there, then again, I was never even good enough to flip burgers, always manned the fries. |

I expect every defenseman to be able to the the puck out of their end. What I don’t want is a 60-100 point defender who isn’t very good defensively and makes $12+M. per

Paul, since you have seen Parekh a good amount, are you saying you wouldn't take him Top 4? Cause he does kind of fit this statement. |

He could wind up putting up Karlsson like points but he’s probably not shutting down a top line. Parekh could prove to be the the best player in the draft or become a very frustrating defenseman who can’t defend. At once I’d like to see Chicago draft him, but I’d be scared if they do. Someone keeps saying GMing is difficult, I’m sure a guy like Parekh is giving Davidson ulcers. |

There was a guy six years ago who was a gifted offensive defenseman who couldn’t stop a rubber puck, I think Davidson is likely sensitive to that. Boqvist has been a flop while Dobson and Bouchard have been studs. |
