Think he's too laid back. I don't buy the "he's dumb" stuff, but I don't think he's super vocal either. Need to have a strong voice as the C. Dahlin has the respect around the league, but not that voice IMO. - QuinnFan
I can assure you that he is not too laid back.
Is he supremely verbal like Tuch, who often has diarrhea of the mouth?
No, but Dahlin doesn't (frank) around when he does talk.
Do you think Casey got in shape all by himself?
Not remotely, and that's just one example. |

I don't think Dahlin is laid back when training himself, but I do think he likes to be friends with guys. I'm not sure I've ever seen him get angry at another player, the best captains in the league do.
Casey would be a good example, did Dahlin drive that transformation? I just hadn't heard that tbh. |

I suppose it was inevitable but don't worry, haven't seen Stripes in weeks. Chaos reigns supreme here.

Disagree- an outside presence like Stamkos who has no history with these guys would have an easier time holding them accountable than Dahlin. I just can't see him doing it - Hank Balling

I still don't think there's a captain on this roster currently - Hank Balling
It's interesting that the reporters following the team don't see him as a slam dunk and always mention Cozens as a future C.
It all has a funny look to it. Their locker cleanup comments didn't sound like Dahlin was the true C last year and everything was going great.

They sure did get mad at 'Fire Donnie' then threw him under the bus at locker cleanout. |

Marcus Foligno, Travis Konecny or Boone - homiedclown
Hard pass. Giving Columbus a good haul for a guy who hasn't played 70 games since 2019 is a bad idea. Foligno or Konecny in a heartbeat. |

What identity would he create with the team. He's been the captain since Okposo was traded, what did you see that shows he is the captain that helps the team become winners?
He will be, since this organization is run by legitimate morons, but he, like the rest of the people employed in Sabreland, lack leadership traits. |

1 middle 6 guy
1 mid pair d man
1 bottom 6 guy
is that enough for this offseason?
let it ride with 6k and levi?
girgens comes back?
is bringing back lazar for the 4th line a viable option? |

given the team failure this season, perhaps the voice needs to come from outside the 2023-24 lockerroom
is ruff enough or is more needed?

Enough for what? If they do nothing, fans won't be happy, but the expectations are still playoffs. 3 significant changes? I think fans would generally be content. |

He certainly did.
He dragged Casey's lazy ass off the couch almost daily, altered his diet and set other good habits. |

This is the perfect example of using analytics as a tool to make a more informed decision.
I hope the days of looking at a RAPM chart and saying yep or nope are gone. - TheSabresTaco
I agree in general, however in specific instances it isn't the be all / end all, right?
It is another informational tool that helps to fill in the painting.
That said, real production versus expected production will always win out...or should.
Stammer's real production was 40/41/82 playing on their top 2 lines as he was moved around frequently, mostly on L2 with Cerelli and Hagel after Duclair was obtained in March.
I'll take him any day if the week no matter what the expected stats say. |

I do not think it's about appeasing the fans or limping into the 7th or 8th seed at this point
I think it's about icing a team that can compete with the panthers, rangers, canes, bruins etc for 82 games and icing a team that is capable of competing for the cup
the bar needs to be much higher than 4th or 5th place in the division next April |

Dahlin is a prime example of a guy who prides himself an becoming the best he can be including practicing hard and encouraging others to up their intensity.
IMO, he doesn't seem to be a true leader as there is more to it than leading by example. I think he is a better Alternate than the Captain. |

I think the bar for most of them is making the playoffs and saving their jobs.
