So many bad trades in the Stan era. Some he had to do for cap reasons. Others I was wondering what he was thinking
- wizardofi

He wasn't thinking had no clue how build a team or sustain a winning team.

Danualt AND a 2nd round pick for Weise and Fleischmann. Arguably Stan’s worst trade ever.
- Chief4Feathers

IIRC at the time Q seemed to agree as well, and rarely played either of those guys. I seem to remember that Weise was actually having a better season that year for Mtl - but after they both got to Chicago - Fleischmann had a little better run at things.

The fact is that Q rarely played either, and almost never played Weise - and the Hawks were done in that year's first round ... so essentially that 'depth move' accomplished zilch.

I mean -I wrote about this a few blogs ago ... am relatively sure that Q originally saw Vermette about the same way ... I mean I knew that Vermette was a decent center - and it made no sense why Q refused to play him (until he really had no choice) -and then Vermette actually ended up being effective in the 2015 playoffs. What I am meaning is - it seems like a lot of context around that Q AND Bowman did not see eye to eye on things, and there was little to no coordination. Seems to suggest that Q saw it as messing with what he felt that he had going.

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong - but it just screamed dysfunctional working relationship all over it. In hindsight - can't see where that was not what was going on.

...

Eisermann and Bedard -- lefty and righty considerations ... not sure- what with if a guy has a preference for shooting a lot on his off-wing, if it really matters. And potentially it is more important for 98 to be working with a really effective righty, RW --- the lefty center and lefty RW thing works for one timers ... so I assume the same works the other way.... righty Center and righty LW... not that means don't draft Eisermann if he's available ... just talking about forward combos. Actually in thinking about it - a natural LW that shoots lefty works too with a righty center.

Yeh all right all that means is - want more Blackhawk content- FF through the playoffs- as I only care when the Hawks are playing I guess.

In my opinion Jones had a decent year, especially the second half. His biggest problem is his salary, he’s getting paid like a #1 Dman, which he’s not. If he was the #2 or #3 Dman and getting paid say $6M, then he’d be just fine.

Yeah… but at least Jones is a serviceable defenseman. Weise and Fleischmann were crap from the get go.
- Chief4Feathers

Let's go through this following exercise or strategy and hopefully you will be pleased.

I am excited to draft a certain two dmen. This is all about whether Eiserman is available when we choose. I accept that we cannot wind up with two of the players we covet most if we move up to roughly tenth overall. A darn good prospect at tenth - sure - but drafting both Eiserman and one of the tip three dmen is just not happening

First if Eiserman is available how he fits:

I like that he will bump and grind to some extent, that he can take a hit and doesn't be concerned only with scoring. Bedard needs and thrives with two llnemartes who are not soft. Eiserman skating sounds like it will be OK once he works to improve it
.Not a speed merchant but as long as skating is not poor, he is fine. His size, his demeanor with that shot is a winning combination.

Some other GM could snatch him up at # two or three so of we .iss out on Eiserman, I have Biuium D*ickinson and Parekt..

Now if my scouts are convinced that the U if Denver kid could become one of the best dmen in the league - which is a very high ceiling to ascribe - it is hard to pass on him

On the other hand who to take is a tougher call if you don't suppose Buium is esteemed so incredibly high

I would not be disappointed to land any of the three dmen truth be told. Each looks like they have the tools to stand out. Parekt may need to work some on his defense but an inkling that he would succeed has bern said to be credible

I personally would go first for D*ickinson. I love the way he fits in on our defense. And perhaps after two or three seasons his style on first pair is just what a team wants. By then maybe S Jones usefulness has been appreciated but it us time to move him..I am hopeful that DelMastro and Allen are solid and both can do most everything well.DelMastro.slow feet is not really accurate, not all so accurate I am hearing.

But let us see Allen and DelMastro as third pair, maybe some second pair minutes because we expect that KK and Vlasic will be in top two pairings

Kaiser and Crevier are.....well they will either keep improving or eventually someone b else will fill their role. As for Phillips, good skill but maybe he just isn't going to be a big difference maker..He hadn't been the smartest guy on ice with his decisions at times but he can probably play in this league. It would behoove him to take a more physical approach but this would probably be an inconsistent area in his game because he is not naturally all too physical. He is.very strong but

Here's the thing with these kids we have seen on defense: they can have one more year to develop and perhaps win us over. We will still be a non playoff contender next season despite any upgrades KD makes

I look at Parekt as a luxury who I like to have on defense but I choose the D*ickinson game as a priority.

And until or unless I can be reassured about the issues reported with Lindstrom and Demidov, I cannot rationalize selecting them with such an early first round slot

Great game, great series once the Leafs got their head out of their a$$.

Bob against Swayman in the next series. First team to 2 goals probably wins.

So predictible, LOSERS always find a way to LOSE.

1 playoff series win in the era of Mathews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander. Thats all that needs saying.

Tavares and Mathews both trotting out the 'I'm proud of the guys, we are a tight group' statements.

Maybe the Coach will come on and say he's fed up coaching a binch of overpaid, underachieving losers.

You know goalies are hockey players just play goalie. They need to anticipate, read and make plays... That puck went into the corner on an angle, you would have to anticipate it might bounce towards the front of the net, then read if it does and you'll be able to make a play on it without thinking.. Simply poking his stick out with the blade at an angle and it pops over Pasternak's stick.

Dude was playing scared and with little IQ.

Actually Leafs played well enough to win a tight one. Both Boston goals were on Samsoov. Swayman doesnt allow either one.

But 4 Game 7 losses to the same team in 10 years .......
