Expected. Like I’ve said before he’s leaving when he wants on his own terms.

So ownership is happy with just making the playoffs and two home games?

I asked Lou Lamoriello specifically whether he expects director of goaltending Mitch Korn to return. Lou quickly said "yes."

Industry expectation is the opposite.

They clearly don't give a crap. The fans that go to these games at UBS have to stop kissing Ledeckys butt and start asking him the tough questions. The Isles are mid and will remain so as long as Lou is at the helm. He better not trade that #1.

I tried to set the example with Ledecky.

Islander ownership still has a loser mentality. Roy better speak up this offseason or he'll be out in a year or so not winning enough with Lou's roster.

We got a nice new building and ownership seems willing to spend, but ownership cannot be satisfied with just making the playoffs. They need to demand more from the GM. It just seems the coaches always have to pay the price.

Listening to Lou and Patrick on their call, like it or not, I absolutely expect the bulk of this roster to return next year. I certainly don't expect any significant offseason trades, partly because the folks we need to move are virtually immovable and partly because I don't think Lou feels it's urgent to do so.
I think it's a given that we'll resign McLean, Ishakov & Holmstrom. Reilly is a big question mark IMO. So beyond spending whatever it takes to sign them I see us along this line:
Barzal Horvat Cizikas
Engvall Nelson Palmieri
Ishakov Pageau Lee
Homstrom MacLean Fasching
Pulock Pelech
Dobson Romanov
Reilly Mayfield
Bolduc
Sorokin
Varly

there's just not much room for maneuverability in the offseason. I don't think Lou will feel inclined to trade Brock & Palms until next season's trade deadline. I don't see a buyout coming for Anders. By the following season Brock and Palms will be off the books with Lee and JGP following the next season. I think that is where our most significant changes will come from.

Unfortunately I think we're just stuck

I'll be skipping a lot of games if it's pretty much the same roster. I'm not putting up with this roster anymore.

100% Keaner. This pretty much summarizes what I said earlier (and a few others have said previously). Lou would be back, which has already been confirmed, and don't expect much change to the existing roster. I disagree with all of this, save for maybe not trading Nelson and Palms until at most the trade deadline, for if by some miraculous reason they happen to put together a strong regular season under Roy. But, unless they are significantly not in playoff contention, I would not expect any moves by Lou at all. Also, I have a feeling MM and Clutterback will be resigned - and I am not for this.

You'll be back
We all will.

Lou could always surprise. The guy is a master at not tipping his hand. Reilly is the X-factor to me. He was extremely cheap yet useful. If he goes elsewhere (very possible) I think we'll likely turn to Bolduc or Salo (scary).

I hate to say this but don't dismiss the idea of Clutterbuck returning either. He reportedly wants to come back and plans to live his post career on LI. A one year league minimum could end up being a thing with him.

Agreed on Cal, and I didn't want us to resign him the last time around. Martin does reportedly plan to retire

I never said I was leaving. I will not watch that many games unless the roster is changed in a significant way.

I'm not scared of playing Bolduc. The Islanders are afraid to embrace young talent. Lou wants an old geezer roster like himself. I do not want Cal or Martin back for free. I'm sure Rempe wants Martin back.

worth repeating?
(congratulations on successfully using the delete button...most of us have not achieved this force power)

I think unfortunately it's not necessarily about the Isles not wanting to embrace young talent but more of a failure in bringing in undeniable young talent.

I'm pretty sure they're not going to deny using someone that could be a legit upgrade. The problem is we haven't done a great job of stocking the prospect pool

It takes a lot of tries to delete or trying from a few browsers.

I wonder who's fault it is if the young talent is not good enough? You do not put the money and effort into drafting and developing and this is what you get. Lou does not have the energy or desire to fix the roster in the offseason and he just wants to re-sign his own lousy talent.

This franchise has been very hit and miss on it's youth cultivation for years, long before Lou. The Bridge has long been a mess IMO, which is why I was glad they moved on from Brent Thompson, though I wish we could have gotten Tage to come here!
I think most drafted talent is typically NHL capable, but it's what your franchise does with them once they arrive. For whatever reason, our record hasn't been great in that area.

I agree that scouting and development has been an issue for years, but Lou is in charge now. Does not make sense to talk about Garth or other past GM's. Lou should have a better clue especially how the Devils were built. Did Lou even make a lot of changes to the scouting department? I just do not see Lou putting in the work and he certainly does not put in the work during free agency. Lou is not much better than Garth in terms of the roster work. Hiring coaches has been much better from Lou.

Do yourself a favor and make yourself unavailable for every game. You’ll be better for it. Half the games I didn’t watch I would come on here a few days later and laugh patting myself on the back for not subjecting myself to what you guys watched.

This roster makes it so easy to skip games. I skipped quite a few this year. Do we really need to see mostly the same roster try to compete with the Rangers and Canes and other speed and skill teams? God Bless fans who can watch every game and go along with everything the team does. I've never been that type of fan. I do not need a championship every year, but show me you know what you are doing, and you are trying and not just phoning it in.
