I friggin hope so. Our pp is beyond pathetic...

The Flyers should not be trying to add any older higher priced players at this point in time.

I know folks are saying Calgary will draft Iginla but I think the smart play is not to add all that pressure and pick someone else. Just my 2 cents which isn’t worth much (these days!)

I agree, it is incompetence to not replace him. He is completely ineffective.

Not to worry. They are taking an org-wide survey amongst themselves to see who might have ideas. What could go wrong?

PP strategy by committee. Just like everything else.

Seriously? Not going to get it done.

Frost you routinely criticize.
Farabee according to you is an okay player with okay skill
Laughton is a 3rd line role players.
Same with Cates
Zamula is a 3rd pair defenseman who at this point, is not a full time player
Attard and Ginning are AHL players

Get it done Danny!

I am not sure how JD can square this proposal when he consistently craps on everyone on that list.

Maybe at some point they get lucky and it will work out.

You forgot Sanheim who I think a team like Utah might be interested in. He's young, experienced and has cost certainty. Also, it does not matter what I think of Frost and Farabee, it only matters when Utah thinks. Both are young players that have reasonable contracts and can are proven NHL players.
- jd250

You forgot he has a full NTC

And that Danny is not trying to do anything close to tanking. If they trade Sanheim for picks who is playing D next season? There'd be York, 31 year old Seeler and two very injury prone RHD left.

What if they replace Rocky and the PP still sucks?

Which is what I think happens anyway. Is it Rocky who dictates who plays on the PP during a game? Did he choose to put Poehling out there so much at the end of the year?

I think the way the PP is set up sucks, but I think having better skillsets would go a longer way to improve it.

Briere and Torts said they want to improve the power play this year and they are not changing coaches. Thus as the Flyers did last year with the penalty kill, I can see the them being aggressive and trying to get a scorer or two to help the PP. That is why I think som trades will occur this off season.
- jd250

I don't have a problem with improving the PP as long as it doesn't deviate from "rebuilding."

Certainly having more skill would be the biggest improvement chance but why can't a PP just have some obvious design and strategy? Some structure and semblance of a plan?

If they add Tarasenko or similar older player that can score on the PP. I will lose my poop!

I don't know how long Rocky has been PP coach, but they have been using the same back to basics schema since Giroux and Voracek.

I agree they need to do better with strategy, but I think they are keeping it "simple" because they don't have trust in the players they are putting out there.

Someone on the team seems to think whoever the best forward is needs to be at the point with a defenseman. Why you are putting Tippett back there just does not make sense. Sure he can shoot the puck, but not at that range. His strength is speed mixed with power to the net, why would they take that away? That's what I have a problem with.

Then you can see they main objective is always going to the point to take the shot, yet for years now they have trouble getting shots through consistently...maybe try something new?

Other teams, especially the better teams obviously have better players to execute on the PP. You also see what they're attempting to do. What the game plan is. With the Flyers PP, you have no idea. I see most passes the make are not to a player in a threatening position. Players don't even look at the net and make the defense account for them. It's just aimless perimeter passing. They not only lack the talent but they're poorly coached on the PP.

I agree, I don't see a PP or the players that adapt. They stick to the script and that's it.

The players suck really bad or the coaches don't have trust in the ones they use. Either way its bad.

Trading Sanheim does not scream tank to me. If they got a young d-man and a pick to get out of that contract I could get behind that. Sanheim is #3-4 d-man. They do not need to be locked into him longterm.

If they are set on keeping Rocky as the PP coach please lock him a a video room for a week and make him watch the Rags PP over and over again! Yeah, I know they have more talent, but they are constantly moving other than Kreider in front of the net.

They should try to pry away Glen Gulutzan from the team he coaches. His PP has finished 9th, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 1st and 4th in his last 6 years. Incredible! How does he do it!?

Good! ESPN is catching $hit for their snafu near the end of the Rags/Canes game! A minute left in a tie game and the Rags on the PP, and they cut to the Avs/Stars game that hadn't even started yet. Bunch of drips!

It was only for about 10 seconds, but when there are 29 seconds left....

I know it got me scrambling for the remote to see if they switched it to TRUTV or some bullpoop.

By the time I found the remote it had switched back.
