When's the last time they traded for a guy with an extension in place?

Serious question. No one is coming to mind.

This is becoming more common place in the past couple years. I don't want to make excuses for the Sabres because they don't deserve it, but most teams haven't made that kind of move.

Matt Tkachuk and PLD come to mind, I'm sure there may be a few more.

For the Sabres, ROR would be the closest one but not technically true.

I think it's becoming more common because players are choosing their destination. Don't think Buffalo is appealing to these guys for several reasons. KA has a tough job (although he's made things even tougher for himself).

Guy is a regular at the sundowner already....the little guys always have a thing for the rippers.

He's a good (frank)in player and he's not expensive to acquire. Grow a sack, cuck, and get him.

Go sit on PP2 for all I care.

Good one. A little more? Feels riskier. More injuries and more inconsistent play recently.

Agreed, he is a very high risk player for the role he is being put in. I also don't see him becoming the guy to pair up with Dahlin or Power, he is a puck possession type....so are they.

Another example of Adams only being able to identify one type of player.

Is it working on offense? Same situation.

Relatively old news, but Ehlers is apparently being shopped.

Sabres have a ton of middling assets, or upper end assets if Ehlers comes with an extension.
