Levi is the only reason Rochester made the playoffs to begin with - Swedish_Jesus
it was funny all those posts saying let levi stay in rochester and win a calder
like it's a given that could have happened

UPL/Levi has the potential to be the next Ullmark/Swayman.

Calvert makes it 1-0 Moose Jaw on a penalty shot.
Savoie sent him in all alone with an unreal saucer pass from the neutral zone before he got hooked from behind
Game 1 of the WHL final - Swedish_Jesus
Savoie with the game winner with 3 minutes left.
Consistently dangerous throughout.

Goalie takes are odd here. Seems simple to me.
Levi was very good in Roch, but they were going to make the playoffs with Tokarski/Cooley too. It's the AHL, almost everyone does. They made it by 13 points.
UPL was great. Overplaying him hurt down the stretch and leaves a little question moving forward.
No sure thing with these goalies, but it feels a lot better this summer than last. |

I turned it off after about 10 minutes, in short:
1) this group was inconsistent
2) lacked leadership from a coaching position
3) special teams sucked
4) weren’t hard enough to play against
The solution:
1) Lindy Ruff, because Adams saw how Lindy coached 10 years ago and expects that energy from Lindy now
2) he is going to stick with his plan of using the NHL as a development league for his players
I shut it off after that. |

Watching Forsling play in the playoffs, and the last few seasons for Florida, it's easy to say the Sabres badly need to get a player like him on defense, but watching a defensive clip video like this brings something else to mind: coaching.
Forsling's stalwart defense is a mix of aggressiveness, skill and willing but not over physicality.
The aggressiveness and physicality are tenets that top notch coaching foster, encourage and demand.
Not only would it be (frank)ing great if they could find a defenseman like Forsling with his base skillset off waivers or via a cheap trade, but equally if not more importantly, they need a coaching staff and defense coach who demands an aggressive style over the passive, puasified, back into your own zone and goaltender bullpoop we've been seeing for years and years by the Sabres.
Praying Lindy brings in a top notch defense coach who deploys that style.

Dealing Samuelsson is not dealing from strength.
And your opinion is vastly different from his, despite the reality of him not being able to stay healthy - TheSabresTaco
Then find a new GM who isn't afraid to be brutally honest when assessing and more importantly, handling his own pets, I mean players.
Yes, dealing Samuelsson wouldn't be from a position of strength, but there are a multitude of options out there that would be open possibilities if a team was willing to take on Samuelsson's contract.
Plus, it sure would shake up the country club, safe space locker room. |

I expressed my interest in Noah Cates several times, and 36 brought him up again.
I wanted to spell out a few "bottom 6" forward trades. The quotes represent my opinion as subjective bottom 6 forwards. All trades made around the draft.
Corey Perry for a 7th
Yamamoto and Kostin for free
Josh Bailey and a 2nd for free
Ross Colton for a 2nd
Luke Kunin for a B- prospect and a 3rd
About all the recent history there is. If you want to include TDL...
Connor Dewar for a C prospect and a 4th
Jack Roslovic for a 4th
Patrick Maroon for a C prospect and a 6th
Jason Zucker for a 6th
Kyle Okposo for a C prospect and a 7th
Jordan Greenway for a 2, 5
List goes on. There's a lot of variables in the returns, but the one thing that stands out is, there's never a 1st involved. Or a great prospect. Or even a good one. - TheSabresTaco
One immediately sticks out as an overpay.

Why isn't dealing Samuelsson from a Position of strength ? Is it because he's physical ? |

Because there's a misconception that he's the only defender that plays defense, which is not accurate?
That's my only guess.
Overall, not every deal has to be made from a position of strength.
As a GM, you usually need to make definitive, sometimes difficult decisions to move your team forward.
The Panthers GM is one prime example of that being the case. |

Sabres need to start thinking outside the Box, don't know if Adams has that in him. Definitely hasn't the last 2 years. |

When you must when the game …. UPL consistently folded.
Starting the season he was also below .890 save % and over 3.50 GAA Check your logs
If Adams goes 7 years on the UPL deal. He trusts UPL
If he bridges him 2-3 years. He doesn’t.
FYI Biron doesn’t trust UPL either and has show numerous times during games - Sabretooth9
In a must win game last night Levi folded. But that doesn’t bother you? |
