If a player comes available who is worth it then absolutely.
I just doubt that caliber of player is available |

The prospects are valuable enough to bring in NHL impact players now, this years 11 is a steal, better than the 1st round draft picks that are being traded for NHL help. Itβs about 3 years down the road anyway. - washedup20

I'd love to get Tkachuk, but that seems like a massive overpayment. 3 #1's? |

Mind bottling how some people right. We shoulda upped our schooling level to nip this problem in the butt.
Edit, saw a new one the other day. An internet savant, proclaiming his life long loyalty to the canadiens wrote, βI am a βdied in the woodsβ Habs fan,β. |

Watching Forsling play in the playoffs, and the last few seasons for Florida, it's easy to say the Sabres badly need to get a player like him on defense, but watching a defensive clip video like this brings something else to mind: coaching.
Forsling's stalwart defense is a mix of aggressiveness, skill and willing but not over physicality.
The aggressiveness and physicality are tenets that top notch coaching foster, encourage and demand.
Not only would it be (frank)ing great if they could find a defenseman like Forsling with his base skillset off waivers or via a cheap trade, but equally if not more importantly, they need a coaching staff and defense coach who demands an aggressive style over the passive, puasified, back into your own zone and goaltender bullpoop we've been seeing for years and years by the Sabres.
Praying Lindy brings in a top notch defense coach who deploys that style.

this is some top 5 gm stuff here
Erik Johnson
Erik Johnson was the second-most consistent Sabres player this season. When he was on the ice, you knew what you were getting. Unfortunately, what the Sabres were getting wasnβt all that good.
Season Summary
Johnson averaged a βD+β grade, the worst of any Sabres player with more than 10 games played this past season. The first two months in particular were bad for the veteran defenseman. An adjustment to a new team can be tough, and, notably, the Sabres play more of a zone defensive-coverage system compared to the Colorado Avalancheβs man-on-man. Still, as a third-pair defenseman, the Sabres expected better numbers from the former first-overall draft pick.

Why isn't dealing Samuelsson from a Position of strength ? Is it because he's physical ? - Buff36
Wouldn't you consider defense a position of need? I know you like a couple prospects, but they aren't ready and their projections aren't particularly high. I don't think they feel good about the position overall, short term or long term, right now.

You have Dahlin, Power, Byram, Johnson that can all play LD. That's not including those prospects. LD is probably the easiest position in the NHL to fill. |

If you want an AHL goalie, with no real path to the NHL, who can you really attract? That guy will also have to clear waivers, and they get claimed a lot. Wouldn't expect much there.

I turned it off after about 10 minutes, in short:
1) this group was inconsistent
2) lacked leadership from a coaching position
3) special teams sucked
4) werenβt hard enough to play against
The solution:
1) Lindy Ruff, because Adams saw how Lindy coached 10 years ago and expects that energy from Lindy now
2) he is going to stick with his plan of using the NHL as a development league for his players
I shut it off after that. - washedup20
He also did say they were going to be aggressive in acquiring players in the off-season.
They've also had good conversations with UPL and his agent and that UPL believes in the team and is intent on staying here. |

23 or 24 year old with upside
other teams have them, no reason why we can't find one
money is no issue and adams did not draft one for the first few years, so go out and get a 23 or 24 year old free agent

Night job Power...? - kingcong39
Unfortunately, for now.
Huge company I worked for (Yellow Freight) filed for bankruptcy and shut it down. Had a few job offers, but I really liked the people I interviewed (4 times) with here, even though it was a late afternoon shift. |
