You do not give (slightly better) Chad Ruhwedel $4m a year. Just say no |

I'm also not giving UPL $5M per for 4 years nor Necas $8M for a max length term.
They're all bad. |

I have the hockey heaven tax at 20 percent
8 mil for Necas here is like 6.5 mil for most of the other 31 teams
Adams should be targeting those hockey players that are avid golfers |

Despite Gerbe's drive by proclamation of Skinner being gone this off season, I find it hard to believe that as the Buyout is unconscionable for this season and really the following season. A trade seems the only option, and those are severely restricted due to his full NMC... Perhaps Toronto he would likely waive for.
That said, what would it take to move Jeffy, significant retention and an asset of some sort. I'd prefer to retain "less" and up the asset value included.
Would you do
Skinner ($3.5m retained)
Joker (QO'd)
For
David Kampf

Meh, decent 4th liner... Better on the dot than anything they have now.
Which ties into your early post of 90 seconds up by 1...
They would never win a FO to gain possession no matter who they put out there.. so running around like a bunch of crazed idiots. |

If there were a deal here, imagine they'd have to take the Tavares cap hit back.
Berube + Skinner? I have a hard time seeing that.

What would you want back knowing that your hands are completely tied. AND you were serious about unloading him.
BTW - I agreed with your post that he isn't as bad as his detractors make him out to be, but he does limit the teams flexibility to add top line talent if they are so inclined. |

Skinner would clear waivers. Think that's always a fair reality check of someone's contract value.

Fair enough, and I would do it for his last season to be sure... Might even try to resign him for abother year or 2 at a far reduced Cap Hit. |

I don't hate him as an overpaid 4th liner
just not eating all of that cap on skinner and throwing in joker for him though
people are acting like skiner was 292nd in goals over the last 3 seasons, not 43rd |

Sure. It's why some form of retention needs to be included...I would try to go as low as I could...but at $6.5 vs $9.0 it aligns more closely...especially if he played on a line with Nylander

if I am retaining nothing
a late pick at best due to his cap
If I am eating 3 mil per I expect a 2nd round pick coming back and I package that pick and pick 11 for an impact player
then again we are then trading the 43rd leading goal scorer in the nhl over the last 3 years, an impactful player
I ride the season out with him and if it does not work with lindy, then bench him for the rest of the season and buy him out next summer
they have the cap space to make moves this year with skinner on the books but just needs the gm to get off of his a$$

It's tough when you talk Toronto. They attract 1 year discount vet deals so easily.

If you offload Olofsson and demote Skinner then promote Kulich and Rosen, you save money and have less conversations...which = more boat time.
We need to start thinking like billionaires, the approach above is how its going to happen, if it happens at all.
IMO Adams is too sensitive/insecure about the narrative that Buffalo is a bad place to play and will keep the vets happy, hoping they say good things. This has already back-fired countless times on him but that's the only logical reason I can see for him behaving the way he does about his bad vets.
