he is ok

I see him being blocked short term if he takes the next step and in a perfect world could be in rochester come october

pommer also popped 30 points in his rookie year, less games (57)

tim kennedy got 26 points in his rookie campaign

I temper expectations given the last 13 years

He had an encouraging year.

Lot of kids in play next season. Not going to be smooth sailing for all of them, and obviously aren't opportunities for all of them.

that's what I hope

they are all in play and benson is not handed a spot due to 11 goals last season

if benson is one of the 9 best up front in camp, good for him and I will cheer as loud as anyone for him

lets see how it plays out

sabres probably took the biggest step backwards in goals per game in 2023-24 vs previous year
devils were not far behind the sabres in regression

- homiedclown

New Jersey finished 12th in GF and were 5th in xgf%.

Their issue was that they had AHL goaltending all year.

Hopefully that’s not the case with a UPL/Levi tandem next year.

Roch still won't be an option for him. It's stupid.

2022-23
sabres 3rd 3.57 gpg
devils 4th 3.52 gpg

2023-24
sabres 23rd 2.98 gpg
devils 12th 3.22 gpg

I stand by my statement

sabres biggest step back
devils not far behind

neither outscored the wings

The Devils were a good team with bad puck luck, the Red Wings were a bad team (30th in xgf%) with a historic shooting percentage.

Every season is its own story, and the Red Wings can always make considerable upgrades this offseason, but I highly doubt they’ll get consecutive years with a historic shooting percentage don’t you think ?

Having a horseshoe the size of Michigan up ones ass doesn’t seem like a sustainable formula for success, imo of course

Good point. Homie is the old “get off my lawn” guy.

Once he lost his “ source” within the Sabres org. His hockey post have gone down hill.

Sabres could use a few players that say " Get of my Lawn" on there Team. Might make them a better overall Team.

Brady Tkachuk was a -10, Debriancant was a -31.

The underlyings back it up that the Cat was a tire fire that year.

Great win move now for Ottawa. There is an alternate reality where Dorion keeps both picks moved in the Cat and Chychrun deals instead of spending like a drunken sailer and both Savoie and Benson are Senators right now.

- Swedish_Jesus

Is that 4th leading playoff scorer on his own team Savoie, the one getting outscored by Firkus and a defenseman?

You never seem to bring that up, when perspective on a prospect would be helpful.

he got the spot due to a clueless gm and at the end of the year

he was noticed less than a fly in a meth lab

he will fit right in here though

his production from late december to early march was on par with an orange pylon (2 goals and 3 assists in 30 games)

maybe if he scored 1 or 2 points in Jan, we could have had a few post season games

- homiedclown

Was there this much female doging and moaning about Peterka 2 seasons ago when he had almost the exact same production as Benson during his rookie season?

he is probably not beating out tuch, quinn, or peterka if those are all healthy

his path to the second line IMO will be tough as long as skinner is on the roster, and kulich, savoie, ostlund, rosen and 2024 first round pick are in the pipeline

- homiedclown

What do any of the prospects have to do with Benson playing on the 2nd line?

None of them have shown anything in the NHL, and some have done little in the AHL.

Benson has a massive leg up on all of them, and deservedly so.

Hefty price right there!

- Buff36

Is the response to the trade offer where someone says can I sub Rosen for Quinn...? 🤣🤣😅

This remains the best truth bomb dropped last season, by Cozens:

"I think we definitely play way too soft. We’re too easy to play against, and we need a little ‘FU’ in our game. I think we had more of that last year. We’re way too soft this year. I feel like we don’t kill plays. We kind of get bullied and stuff, and we know we need to be way harder to play against. We’re too easy to play against right now.”

How will they win with less points?

How many goals do the forwards need to score to make the playoffs?

How many times in Vegas did Stephenson win the game for Vegas? That’s seems like a high ask, especially for a 3rd line center.

- washedup20

He is much more difficult to play against then any Sabre on the roster, and would be one of multiple additions needed in that mold.

He's the type of player you post about the Sabres needing roughly 77 times a day, but now you're worrying about points...?

I think the only way any of the non-NHL prospects are in play for an NHL roster spot is if Adams once again fails miserably in the offseason, which is expected honestly.

Unless they bring in enough quality veterans to block a roster spot, Benson is on the roster.

None of the prospects have shown enough to warrant a roster spot.

Trying to remember if Peterka received similar complaints after his rookie season when he had similar production.

Kane shunned Buffalo once already for Detroit.

Why would he not shun them again?

Pesce is already rumored to have said no to the Sabres.

Why would he choose them over a number of teams who will offer him a comparable contract?

Don't want to block him, I want the right C to play with him. That's why I would push hard for Stephenson. I think there styles would match.

If Benson doesn't make the team, the only option is Juniors, and that's not an option.

He's on the roster.
