How many games do you give the coach to assess if his message is working?

How many games do you give the players to adjust to the new system?

What is the realistic margin of error for this group, if they get close, miss the playoffs but looked good - is that considered a good learning experience or a failure?

if you try to make him a 3rd line 2 way guy, it won't work and just move on as we saw ralph and meathead try to make something out of him that he was not

if giving him a real look in the top 6

Lot of terrible humans in the league, he's one of the worst, but I don't want to pretend he wasn't better than Armia either. That was the worse trade of the two by far. For RoR, the return basically matched. We simply didn't retain him after the loss of love of the game b.s.

If the Sabres kept Armia + the 2015 first (Roslovic) + Myers + Stafford + not taking on the albatross of Bogosian they are absolutely better off from 2015 and on.

Stafford could've been moved for a 2nd as a rental, Myers had trade market value, Armia was good depth and the first was a valuable piece.

That trade started the shift to me

Short answer, yes. Long answer, he was finding his game again till be decided to be the toughest guy on the team. Got hit, set him back. Was better down the stretch than people give him credit for.

Could he have been more consistent? Yes. is he still young and getting better? I think so.

I agree that there were better potential acquisitions than we made. However, still do not think one of those players is actually high quality. Stafford for a 2nd, given our drafting history, basically means no return and the rest of those assets are low end. We absolutely could've done better on the Kane trade, the RoR trade was actually pretty fair but neither was a big loss. Junk for junk.

I'm more worried about their 1st line than 2nd.

I was never a Donnie fan, but you're putting too many GM problems on him.

They were bad last year from game 1. Also not a big fan of pinning it all on the coach. Players want more accountability? Nothing was stopping them.
