He's also getting ready to tee off after getting ground down in the playoffs.

Quinn Hughes had a 64.5 xgf% in the playoffs this year.

Him and Bouchard have been the best d-men by far

Caring about 3 years from now should be over when every other good team figures out the cap as they go.

There's going to be a ton of suitors for Monahan?

That AAV is over his projection.

- kingcong39

I saw a higher projection.

I think there will be better opportunities for him to win and play top 6. Why come to Buffalo and play bottom 6?

Evolving Hockey has 3 years at $5.2M per as their projection.

Not sure I agree about there being a better chance to play top 6 on a winning team with the 3 seasons prior to his one.

They were so bad that one good rebound season is not going to be enough to convince good teams.

Underlyings say he’s worth every penny.

Him only having 59 points has more to do with the team having poor shooting luck with him on the ice and the fact the PP was dog đź’©

I would say that is the going rate for a bonafide top 10 d-man in the league.

Dahlin didn’t give Buffalo a stay at home discount by any stretch of the imagination, but if any other top 10 d-men were UFA’s this year you don’t think they’d get $11M per ?

Seems a bit high, but he also wasn't a UFA.

He should be on Norris ballots year in and year out on a team that doesn’t waste his talent.

Hopefully he’s making $11M for us and not someone else the next 8 years.

Seems like we gave generational talents coming out every year now, I guess it depends on what your definition of generational is

Had he taken his one year arbitration award last offseason he would have been this year.

He had all of the leverage in that negotiation, he might as well have been a UFA.

You're a year off.

Not this has any relevance to his performance last year.

Your entire life is a series of what if scenarios and it's very sad to see you day in and day out talk in what ifs and could haves. Honest to god, everything you say is some variation of

"Well if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle."

And the Sabres stepped flat on their d whilst developing him. Between crap coaches, zero support on the backend for him and overall crap teams, that generational talent has been stifled. And they go and keep the same crap d coach…

Unless Terry sells soon, Dahlin will be the next to demand a trade and raise a cup

Right, can't wait for "Why Star Wars doesn't need lightsabers anymore" or "Why the Terminator doesn't need Terminators anymore".

Can't wait for the new Aliens movie. It's called "Humans" and they can't figure out which bathroom to use.

Looking back, I'm not sure if we're talking Monahan or Lindholm now. Funny thing is, with UFA's, the conversation always goes the same way.

Dahlin’s totals amongst d-men to play at least 500 minutes this year (underlyings via Money Puck)

20 goals (3rd)
14.3 expected goals (3rd)
39 assists (18th)
24 primary assists (12th)
59 points (10th most)
54 xgf% (32nd) higher than Makar and McAvoy fwiw
12.1% Relative goals % (11th) (Sabres were dreadful when he wasn’t on the ice)

Dahlin only having 15 secondary assists says more about the rest of the team than it does him and is what’s keeping him from being in the top 5 in points amongst d-men this past year.

The Sabres as a team ranked in all situations:

22nd in xgf%
23rd in Actual goals for

The Sabres PP:

29th in xgf%
30th in Actual goals for

Dahlin is taking a lot of the blame for Donnie/Ellis and the supporting cast eating cheeks
