Dahlin only having 15 secondary assists says more about the rest of the team than it does him and is what’s keeping him from being in the top 5 in points amongst d-men this past year.

This Sabres team requires an infusion of leadership to take it to the next level. The proper leader of this team isn't here yet...and Stamkos fills exactly that, plus superior performance which improves in the PO's ...he's the epitomy of a gamer. As a center, he's in the mid 50's for FO win %. As a Captain he has been through the war of leading a team that "cheated" play, and helped transform them into a machine that can lock down Game 7 wins 2-1. That is exactly what you pay him for. The Sabres would have the best Captain in the game to learn accountability from...right now, they just admitted they can't even spell it, let alone implement it.

I'm stunned a Sabres fan after these 13 seasons wouldn't jump at the opportunity to have him lead the team.

The same can be said of quite a few guys. We were talking about Tavares the other day, to me he's more attractive as he checks the same boxes but is a 1 year deal. Going a step further, if not a single guy on this team or in the system has leadership traits, it's all for not, we aren't going anywhere with or without Stammer.
