I want you to keep in mind they chose Victor Olofsson over both.

Another dubious decision at best by the Sabres management, or are we now considering their moves to be good ones?

Short summary: Trading for Buchnevich (UFA in '25) and Kevin Hayes (UFA in '26).

The St. Louis Blues are going through a transition phase and there are two forwards that would make sense for the Sabres to be interested in.

Hayes would be terrible as a veteran 3rd line Center?

Why?

I believe he did get scratched a few times towards the end of the year.

I’d bet $ Hayes would retire before accepting a trade to Buffalo, Buch would be interesting.

My point is this annoying trajectory of ridiculousness we have been doing with every prospect since Luke Adam.

They're untouchable, they're great, then two years later were trying to fit them in the bottom 6 and the next 11th OA pick is the best thing eva

- sbroads24

It’s absolutely possible that the Sabres may get a player with higher upside than Kulich with the 11th OA pick in the draft, while still acknowledging that Kulich is a very good prospect with top 6 upside.

Hopefully Buffalo isn’t picking top 15 next year and we won’t have to worry about it ?

Drafting a lot of very good players isn’t a bad thing.

Dallas is playing in a WCF becuase of it

Which is hilarious.

Jiri Kulich

Get's drafted 28th - Hmm seems like a steal at that spot
After year 1 in the AHL - Holy hell this guy is a stud - completely untouchable
Middle of DY+2 - I think hes bored in the AHL
End of year 2 - He's maybe an NHL'er next year, the 11th overall pick will automatically be considered a better prospect.

Rinse. Repeat. With every good prospect ever.

Trade them when they are in the bolded phase

- sbroads24

In looking at the top 20 Rookie scorers this past season, 4 were from this past draft year, with Benson finishing 2nd among those 4.
The other 16 were a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 years from their draft year. They must all suck too, lol.

There are always exceptions like Wyatt and Pastrnak who 20 teams missed on before being selected. But we are talking 18 yo boys playing against grown men, so it takes awhile for the brain and the body to develop into men...shocking I know.

Imagine being naive enough to think players don’t truly hate Buffalo:

“For those of us who never took a stride in Patrik Berglund’s skate boots, there would have been more than 13 million reasons to stay.

The Swede didn’t just walk away from his NHL dream when he made the surprising decision to step away from the Buffalo Sabres last December. He also walked away from a guaranteed contract that had $13.03-million remaining on it.”

His AAV is $3.5M per due to salary retention from the Flyers/Blues trade.

Both Buchnevich and Hayes have a connection to Ruff from their time on the Rangers.

Plus if his bonuses are paid I think it's cheaper cause the last 2 years drop In total Salary. If I got Buxh for taking him at a cheaper rate I am all for it.

Im still against the idea.

Whomever we get for 3C should be able to play up and down the ice. PK, up 1 in the last minutes and your not afraid hes out there.
