Philly was better than Buffalo last year and has 2 outstanding prospects about to make the jump. Are they really looking to sell off?

What’s story with Atkinson? Injuries?
Am I misremembering in thinking that he doesn’t want to be on a Tortorella coached team?

- Ratsreign

Newhook and Byram without looking at the roster
- Swedish_Jesus

So a 5th D and a 25 point center?

Cool. Guess the “need” for cheap ELC’s is vastly over rated.

Also, Byram being drafted 4th overall isn’t really apples to apples of a roster fill in on a cheap ELC

Who’s Florida’s cheap ELC stud this year?

Rangers?

Bowen Byram’s playoff run that year just got the Avalanche Casey Mittelstadt……. They literally don’t win the cup without that sicko playoff run he had.

As for Florida, that Anton Lundell guy who has 9 points in 12 playoff games.

As for the Rangers, Kakko, Schneider, Cuylle, Rempe

Byram was drafted 4th overall. Kakko #2 overall. Those aren't roster fill ins.

Schneider plays 15 min a night as a #6 D. Cuylle is a 4C

Lundell i'll count.

There's about 3 total between the 4 remaining teams

I've been told it's super important to have this constant stream of prospects playing key roles on ELC's. It's not

I would not count Lundell, 12th overall

if that is the case, the 18 year old was a nothing last season

Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven, Thomas Harley, Ty Dellandrea, Nils Lundqvist.

There is 5 on Dallas alone.

Dylan Holloway has also had a noticeable impact for Edmonton.

In a salary cap world, having players provide impact far greater than their cap hit is crucial.

Is Lundell on an ELC or not ?

It’s funny how I apparently move goal posts yet everyone on here does it 10x as much as I ever have

I look at it from value contracts, roster management not entry level deals

good teams draft better
good teams round out their roster better

all things the sabres really should take a hard look at instead of brining more security guards on board

There’s 3/4 guys who move the needle at all.

Holloway/Dellandrea no and Lundqvist was acquired via trade.

It’s an over rated narrative we’ve been fed to prolong this rebuild.

It’s a league of stars

There’s 3/4 impactful players on ELC’s of the 100 or so remaining roster players.

Name the elite prospect:

Selected by the Mississauga Steelheads in the first round (12th overall) in the 2015 CHL Import Draft.
Notes: 2015-16: Led Team Sweden in goals (5) and points (9) at the 2016 IIHF under-18 world championship…Named OHL Rookie of the Year after leading all first-year players in assists (47) and points (75)…His nine power play goals were the second-most by an OHL rookie…Is 2-for-4 in shootouts…Recorded a six-game assist streak between November 13th and November 27th…Was named OHL Rookie of the Month in October, November and March…Led Team Sweden in both goals (4) and points (9) as they finished fourth at the 2016 U20 World Junior Championship…Played for Team Sweden at the 2015 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, where he tied for the team lead in scoring with six points (two goals, four assists) in five games…Represented Team Orr in the 2016 CHL Top Prospects Game…2014-15: Led AIK’s J20 squad with 25 assists and tied for the team lead in scoring with 40 points in 42 games…Appeared in three games for AIK’s senior club in the SHL…Led Team Sweden in assists (5) and points (7) in six games as they won the bronze medal at the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge…Drafted in the 15th round (239th overall) by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the 2015 USHL Draft.

He’s an excellent skater with a deadly shot, but he can score goals from in close thanks to a ridiculous set of hands. He is able to make smart decisions as he maneuvers through traffic, and his ability to stickhandle in and around a dense field of sticks and skates while knowing exactly where his linemates will be makes him an indefensible threat on the rush. He’s impossible to prepare for, as he can beat you with his playmaking or his heavy shot. He loves to hang onto the puck for what may seem like an eternity, but is done in a sensible fashion without trapping himself into a corner. He can play either side of center ice, and kills penalties, so don’t you dare consider him a one-trick pony. He should be considered one of the draft’s best goal scorers, but his ability to thread the needle and play selfless hockey makes him one of the few two-pronged threats available for 2016.

Who was Vegas's cheap ELC player last year?

Who was Colorado's the year before?

- sbroads24

Cruel reality is that the Sabres don't operate in the same league as those teams. They can't fill out their roster the way they can. If they plan to continue taking big swings on early extensions with their guys, they have to do things differently.

#Isles News: The New York Islanders have acquired a first-round pick (#20) and two second-round picks (#54 and #61) in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Chicago Blackhawks, in exchange for the team's first-round pick (#18) and second-round pick (#50).

Is picked in top 10 the cut off for inclusion?

Lundell could’ve went at number 8
or even at # 7.
