It’s funny. Almost everyone on this board was salivating over Marner any chance they got the past few years. It’s amazing what one playoff series can do.

It's not just 1. He has disappeared in several series.

Interesting move by the Bolts to reacquire McDonagh. Is the expectation for Stamkos to take a severe hometown discount. Since '17, Stamkos has scored 27 goals or more in every season except. one. That year 38 games played 17 goals. He is 34, but still borderline elite.

Now, I'm not suggesting Briere should try to sign him. I just still expect a lot of player movement with the cap going up this year and the foreseeable future.

If they don’t make it work in TB, I could see him going to Boston. I think they make the most sense. Other teams that might consider him are Detroit, Ottawa, maybe Buffalo. Honestly, if Florida doesn’t keep Reinhart, if they can make the cap work I could see him going there. It’s close to Tampa and he’ll have a chance at another cup.

I guess the Bolts could try and move salary, but who? Really going to move a guy like Cirelli to bring back Stamkos? Cirelli 6.25 for 6 more years with a NTC kicking in next year. Cirelli has scored 20 goals once in his career. Maybe. Maybe move Jeannot who has 1 yr left @ 2.6 million. Stamkos even at 34, should get north of 6 million/yr, I would guess.

If they can get him at $6m, they could move Nic Paul, who’s a $3.15m cap hit. That would leave them with $2m in cap space to sign 2 more forwards to ice a full team. But that’s basically no flexibility. If a guy got hurt they’d basically be screwed.

I had forgotten the Bolts had Brent Seabrook on the cap. His contract ran out this past season. Luckiily, the Flyers have the Ellis or Johannsen contract to dangle to teams who want to utilize LTIR.

It looks like a video game roster constructed with the cap off. Of note, I want no part of Marner Could you imagine what the cost would be to get him and re sign him? 8 yrs 12 mil a year?? Holy god. Get michkov over here and see where we are in a couple years with picks.
- Hextall271

This. Marner is a winger, 27 (doesn’t fit the rebuild), and is up for a major raise. These are ALL the same reasons they need to trade TK. I like both players but in a cap world you can’t buy your way to success. Trade TK and pass on Marner. This team is 3 years out at a minimum.

Hahahaha. Love it. Two things to actually discuss from this piece of 💩:

1. Will the flyers sign a Russian (obvious omission here) to support Mitchov, and if so, which one?
2. Would you trade Coots for Gaudreau?

Feds is already on the team so theoretically he already has someone to talk to even though he’s a goalie and not a forward.

Vladimir Tarasenko stands out as a fit among the secondary pieces, however. As an offensive player, he had to become a better defensive player in recent years which should help under a coach like John Tortorella. Meanwhile, the Senators liked his off-ice value in a younger room before moving him at the trade deadline so he could have that same type of benefit for his fellow countryman. After free agency didn’t go well last time around, a multi-year commitment at a small raise from the $5MM he made this year might get it done which is a price tag they can afford by going into LTIR. I’d go with him as a veteran to try to add to work with Michkov.

not so sure on him as his situation is fishy to say the least. Dont see any team doing that unless they know for 100% he will never play.

The Flyers can offer a multi year deal when he was only offered a 1 year deal last offseason.

And don’t forget the “retirement benefits” the Flyers organization offers its ex players.

Torts would love Tarasenko. I don't think you know how good and how much a complete player Tarasenko is.

I get the feeling Johansen has zero interest in playing again. With the "hip injury" allows him to get the final 8 million of his contract. I would expect the NHLPA to back him strongly because of the slippery slope of allowing a team to deem a player healthy enough to play while the player says I am too injured.

offered or that was what he wanted as opposed to a 2 year deal? unless an overpay players like him are looking elsewhere.

Stamkos could get 6 x $10m. Don't think the Flyers can afford that, even assuming he would even come here.

So I am still curious how the Bolts get cap compliant for in theory one more Cup run with this core. Seabrook's contract is now done.
