I agree, a TK extension might be what pushes me full time into the Aves.

It is so damn obvious that they need to trade the guy, it hurts.

I like how he deflected blame for Couturier breaking down because he "didn't have a crystal ball". I don't think you needed one to see the danger in playing Couturier 20 minutes a night after he just missed almost two full seasons and had two back surgeries.

But the alleged shoe-in for Coach of the Year thought it was a good idea to healthy scratch his second best center option 11 times in the first half of the season.

It really is sad that he couldn’t see the Coot’s situation coming. He is actually an overall good coach IMHO. He just is an arrogant a$$clown that can’t get out of his own way and he is the WRONG coach for where this team is at currently.

Flyers head coach John Tortorella finished 12th in the voting, receiving two second-place votes and one third-place vote for seven points. The National Hockey League Broadcasters Association votes for the Jack Adams Award.

I'm sure he had Keith Jones's vote!

I kid but Keith Jones's role is all about shaking hands and kissing babies and he knows a lot of broadcasters from his days as a broadcaster, only a year ago.

Wasn't the extention of Ristolainen done a short while after this new "staff"?
- Pelle31Forever

Yes, but in their defense Fletcher was much more open to paying them than using them. If any of them approved of any of Fletcher's moves they should've been fired.

Then again, Torts thumbs his nose at analytics, fields the worst PP in the league multiple years running, worst OT team in the league, sets bad records in the NHL record books, misses the playoffs but get's 3 votes for coach of the year and unending praise.

It makes no sense.

Tortorella's a systems coach, and a task master. The Flyers don't have a lot of talent so they rely on responsible systems play, the problem with that is, without talent he overplays the guys who can pull off what he's teaching and they become exhausted by mid January. That and he personally becomes too much, so the guys tune him out.
- Dave21Brown

Exactly. The other issue is his system is behind the times. It can make a team competitive and improve them but that's about it. Sooner or later the players will realize that having to exert playoff level intensity for a full season, the pain and bumps and bumps and bruises from blocking shots and all that is not how you win the modern day NHL. They will realize that the commitment is not effective and not worth it. Then it will break down.

Piss me off? Hardly. I saw through that BS. It was just a juvenile attempt to try and get at me because they had no other recourse. Some were so desperate, praying for it to happen. I laughed at them. I've been among the first to see right through Tortorella.

It's all due to mail-in voting and ballot harvesting - Torts refuses to concede the election

Also game 4 in 97 was one of my favorite games. Big E delivering again after the hat trick in game 3 was awesome.
- mickel25

I remember that series so vividly and that game is also one of my favourites. Loved that team and loved Lindros at his peak. Really thought they’d get it done. I still laugh when watching the games from that era. There was always someone basically water skiing off lindros and he just battled through it. Insane

If MM comes over to me, that speeds up Torts dismissal. I don't know about anyone but I am terrified with the idea of Torts trying to turn MM into a 200ft player.

I want a 50ft player who scares the hell out of anyone when he has the puck, and I will have linemates to account for his play.

But first with have glaring holes that need filing, 1C, 1D.

#12 & TK, thats what my offer would be to MTL for the 5th pick.

If they say know then i go for the 6th pick or 7th pick. Those 3 spots will all pick potential no1 dmen.

Who are you picking at 5?

I’d rather get a late first and a good prospect for TK. Especially in a draft where there is little consensus past the first pick and then again after 4. So please convince me 2 1sts this year and a solid prospect is worth whoever you want.

That’s an overpayment IMO. I am thinking the Flyers could get a much better deal trading the 12th and TK than moving up 7 spots and hope you’re getting a #1 dman.
I might look at the 12th and a combination of Laughton,Brink, Lykcell, Zamula, Desnoyer, a third round pick or higher.

idk, those other players don't move the needle for any team to drop that many spots in the draft.

I agree that #12 and TK for #5 would be the only realistic deal. someone would have to really covet someone who'd be available at 12. If I had the #5 pick and a team offered me #12 and Bobby Brink or Scott Laughton I'd probably laugh at them.

even if adding TK is an overpayment, IMO that's what it would take to make a deal like that.

I think I would rather move TK and something else to get another top 13 pick than to just move up to 5-7. The Flyers have multiple needs for talent and this draft may have opportunities for teams who want more immediate help that won’t be the same next year.

That’s why I said a combination of players. If the 12 th and say Brink and Zamula or Ginning, Cates etc then no deal. If a team asks for TK and the 12th for the 5th overall I laugh at them.

yeah i'm not so sure quantity is going to get it done either. you could laugh at them and they, in turn, say fine, we are happy to pick 5OA or field more deals.

pure gold. lets give trash for a top 5 pick.

none of those players or a combo of those players with #12 gets you to 5.

That’s fine if the flyers offered TK and the 12th I’m positive they could get a better deal than just moving up 7 spots.

So he can go back to Russia and play with even worse trash on Sochi. For a LOT less money.
