Other than the beaches, I find nothing appealing about florida.
Too many Florida mans, too many banned books, less and less rights for women.
I'll take beaches, snowboarding and mountain biking and some more rights/freedoms in Cali for a little more all day long.

- Fakepartofme

Banned books? That uproar is about keeping sexual material out of the young children’s section at the public school libraries. Nothing is outright banned. They are not going to Barnes and noble and taking books off of shelves.
Just stop with spreading BS misinformation. At least stop gobbling down all the bullpoop being fed to you.

I don't watch any NCAA outside of the Frozen Four, but don't they already have D1-D2-D3?
- AdamFrench

They do.

But it's a joke, because the top division has 133 teams, so on most weeks, the matchups are a joke.

And also keep in mind you don't have to play all your games against D1 schools, so it can be an even bigger joke.

To illustrate my point, let's take a look at Notre Dame last year, who always have a soft schedule.

The Athletic puts out a list after every week ranking all 133 teams.

Notre Dame finished 9-3, ranked 16th (by the Athletic).

But let's look at their schedule, shall we?

First game was against Navy. Navy were ranked 107th. So if you figure professional leagues have 32 teams, Navy would be playing in the 4th league (like if the Leafs played a team one league below ECHL).

It was a blowout. Everyone knew it would be a blowout. Final score: 42-3. Why even bother to play the game?

2nd week: Tennessee State Tigers. This is a Historic Black College - they aren't even in D1, so not even in the top 132. Notre Dame claims they did it to shed the spotlight on the school. OK, fair enough, but the final score was 56-3. Once again, why bother playing it?

3rd week: NC State Wolfpack. Final ranking: 23. OK, great.

4th week: Central Michigan Chippewas. Ranked 105. Another blowout.

5th week: Ohio State. Ranked 7th. This was a good game. Ohio State wins 17-14

6th week: Duke. Ranked 42nd. Game was close, so let's say this was a legit game to play.

7th week: Louisville. Ranked 15th. Another good game. Louisville wins 33-20.

8th week: USC. Ranked 39th. Let's also call this a legit game.

9th week: bye

10th week: Pitt. Ranked 100. Why play this game? As expected, a blowout.

11th week: Clemson. Ranked 29th. Clemson wins 31-23

12th week: bye

13th week: Wake Forest. Ranked 95th. Another blowout.

14th week: Stanford. Ranked 94th. Another blowout.

So 12 games.

6 games against teams ranked lower than 90th. 6-0 record.

Another 2 games against teams ranked in what would be the 2nd tier if they went with a 32 team top division. 2-0 record.

Another 4 games against teams that would be in a 32 team top division. 1-3 record.

6 games that are absolutely unwatchable.

2 games that were never in doubt.

4 games that provided real competition.

The system is a joke. It was fine when it was hiding under the cover of "amateur athletics/student athletes" - but now that that's over, it's time to make this a better product.

Florida has nice beaches and a lot of public parks with nice amenities. You can't go 10 miles anywhere in central Florida without seeing a county or state park, national forest, wildlife refuge, or wilderness preserve. Hiking, camping, birding, and stargazing is great. World-class fossilhunting. Top notch fishing (fresh or salt). Buyers market for boats and RVs. Killer weed. Smokeshows everywhere you go. It's not all bad.

That's the good.

I don't have time, energy, or space to list the bad

- GalacticStone

You just have to list alligators.

I don't need anything after that.

Sure ..and a lot of us liked the deal when it went down. It made some sense ...60 pt blueliner coming off a great playoffs plus a young 3rd line C.

But the Leafs never got that Tyson Barrie ...they got (or turned him into) Tyson (frank)ing Barrie.

- The Law

I think the real challenge there was that they really underestimated how poorly both Barrie and Rielly played defense. They were so busy congratulating themselves on how good these d-men were with the puck that they never stopped to ask themselves how they were going to get it.

That team had Muzzin-Holl while they were still somewhat effective. I think it's forgotten that they also added Cody (frank)ing Ceci and still were occasionally using Martin (frank)ing Marincin - that's a lot of '(frank)ing' guys for one defensive unit to withstand.

I think they basically rolled Rielly - Ceci, Muzzin - Holl and Dermott - Barrie - but they had Barrie play with everyone: Rielly, Muzzin, Dermott, Marincin and even Sandin and the guy was just not effective here.

Calm down broflake.

When you gotta qualify a book ban, you have already lost.

Nobody said anything about book stores. Stop trying to deflect.

Your delicate friends are scared of books. And those books are a lot more than alleged sexual material. Have you actually looked at the lists of books banned from Florida school libraries?

Stay focused on the important things like gay wedding cakes, while the rest of the state is struggling to afford food, gas, insurance, and utilities.

And I hope New York or Edmonton curb-stomps your dirty team.

With Berube here I do wonder about Parayko and/or Binnington.

salary retention and there could be something there.

- Santo_44

With or without retention I could see Parayko being a target. Rumoured that Tree was sniffing around on him back in February.

Lol.

Authors whose books are among the 700 that have been banned from schools just in Orange County: Jon Stewart, Amy Poehler, Keith Richards, Marcel Proust, etc, etc. And yes, banning is the appropriate term for not allowing books in certain places such as schools.

I learned about sex from the Bible :

1) don't bang dudes
2) don't impregnate your brother's wife
3) don't masturbate

Do any of those and you are executed by a lightning bolt or plague swarm or meteor strike or something.

Simple.

The greatest lesson I learned from the bible: you and your 41 kid friends should not make fun of a bald guy.

2 Kings 2:23-24
King James Version

23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Agreed - you take a step back and evaluate the Leafs blue line for the past decade and it's amazing that we have any questions about this teams failings.

I looked at the bluelines of the final four ..Stars, Rags are 4 deep with quality. FLA is 3 deep with quality and the Oilers have a great top pair then get a little weak.

Leafs don't have a great top pair and haven't ever. Our second pair is always a work in progress and usually changes every month and the 3rd pair is leftovers. It's time for 3 consistent pairings with better quality at the top.

We all "like" Boosh ...he's solid ...none of this is his fault or Benoits ....but we can't keep thinking it's a good idea that he's in our top pair. We all loved Schenn ...me too but on Nashville (mediocre team) he's playing 14 mins per night.

Our expectations have sunk so low when it comes to the blueline and goaltending. We say things like "maybe we can land a guy like Talbot" ...like that's a great thing? It may be the best we can do ...but it's not a great thing.

And all of this is directly related to the heavy allocation of cap up top. It is what it is. I'm not saying trade anybody ...but it just is what it is.

If the Leafs' star forwards played like the Oilers' stars play in the playoffs, they would get comparable results. But they don't and they don't.

And it's only going to get worse.

There will be parts of Arizona that will be unlivable in 20 years.

Too much heat, not enough water.

- Atomic Wedgie

I've been in Phoenix three times in June. Golfed when it was 43 degrees celsius there. It's a bit of a drier heat but man the wind just sucks the moisture out of you. Literally nobody outdoors between 10 am and 3 pm. I'm not sure how people will continue to live there if it keeps getting hotter.

Ya, Oilers are maybe the best comparable ...they are winning inspite of some questionable blueliners and goaltending. Although, honestly, I think their blue line is still better than the Leafs when you can play Bouchard and Ekholm almost 30 minutes if needed.

But ya, that team is driven by special teams success ..PP and PK ...unlike the (frank)ing Leafs and their historically bad special teams this year.
