Most fans view the Ranjuhs as the Maple Leafs of the USA. An original 6 team that rarely wins cups. But yet fills up every opposing arena and chirps like their teams are Gods gift to hockey.

Me, I hate the Rangers for 2 reasons. I grew up an Isles fan in the 70's and then converted to Devils in 1982 when they came to NJ. And as we were starting out, Ranger fans were ruthless in picking on Devils fans. Yes we sucked, but it felt like we were always being picked on by our bigger older brother. So hence the hatred

I knew we were going to lose game 1 as soon as I let my anger about the broadcast get the best of me lol. ESPN is the worst, but they could at least have impartial coverage…

ESPN has been felating the Rangers for 3 years now.

Brad Nessler is horrible. Listening to Ray Ferraro, you would have no idea he played in the league so long. They miss so much of what is going on that is relevant. They do not help sell hockey to anyone.

Speculating here, but probably because it's a lot easier to root for a team that's historically been bad and doesn't have a Cup. They don't have any enemies outside of Tampa.

But the Panthers aren't an Original 6 team with 100 years of playoff battles and geographic rivalries that have festered into pure hatred over time. They have Tampa but that's probably about the only team that you could say has a hardcore rivalry with Florida

There will obviously be a smattering of other fans that don't like Tkachuk/Cousins/etc... and root against Florida because of that, but to answer Jan's qusetion about why so many people are rooting against the Rangers...I think it's because they (like a lot of O6/older teams) have made many enemies over the years.
