Manny Maholtra is the new head coach of Abbortsford.
That one wasn't too hard to predict...well...the not being a Leaf assistant part.

Jesus. Both of these teams would have maimed the Leafs as they are currently constructed.

So fast and aggressive. Florida is just f'n mean. The Rangers are an interference machine. Florida has an enviable dump, retrieve and cycle. The Rangers have size, and just sticks in every lane. It's like guys have 2 sticks each.

- Monkeypunk

Yup.
Our core 4 would probably get run over.

Acquired an HQ-180 of the first Boston album - orange vinyl. Sounds flawless.

I'd like to see Matthews flip the meanness switch once in a while, like Stamkos learned to do.

It doesn't mean to change your style of play and start running around hitting and punching things, but it does mean you need to show more emotion, and sometimes a little more aggression. Turn that pornstar mustache into a villain mustache once in a while.

If I am Berube, I would try my hardest to get that message through to every Leaf on the roster and reward it when done properly. The first time I saw Matthews stand up for a teammate and start throwing punches, I'd put the C on him.

Other teams, including the Lightning, respect the Leafs skill. They do not respect much else. That needs to change under Berube.

Please dont let this be true.

"Pierre Lebrun is reporting that the @MapleLeafs are working on multi year extensions with both Domi and Bertuzzi with a cap hit around 5-6 million range. Says this is just “speculation” at this point.
Bertuzzi and Domi have both expressed interest in remaining with the leafs"

Unless its 5-6 combined.

He was good for a Stanley Cup, a bunch of playoff goals and points for Colorado though. A lot more useful than Kerfoot ever was. Or Barrie.

It would be nice to see Matthews score more than 1 playoff goal after chasing 70 so hard.

- Rare_Jewel

The 1 playoff goal made it 70 though.

Max Domi had 28 goals and 72 points in 2019-20, which ultimately earned him a 2 year x $5.3m contract in Columbus.

Every other year of his professional career he has earned less than $3.2m. Last year's 9 goal / 47 point performance shouldn't do anything to affect that. I have no problem with going up to $4m for him and respecting his abilities, but those citations are ludicrous.

Bertuzzi's best season was in 2021-22, when he scored 30 goals and had 62 points in 68 games. The next year he scored 8 goals and had 30 points in 50 games.

Last year with us he had 21 goals and 43 points in 80 games.

There is nothing in Bertuzzi's recent performance that says he deserves more than $4m either.

Add to that the unimportant note that I just don't like his play and there's no way I'd be resigning him at all!

I don't think LeBrun has this one right.

I think he has the information of what the agents are looking/asking for.

Who knows if a team is insane enough to give them that.

With pick #3 you could have your choice of whichever stud D you wanted….

It’ll only cost you Knies -

Would Tre entertain it ???

- dozerD10

The likely hood of #23 ever leaving the Leafs would compare with my chances of winning the 649.

As in never.

That’s the whole point though right… if they’re gonna sign Burt and Domi, they’re not gonna have enough money for any kind of D…

Nobody’s gonna waive to go anywhere…

This is the chance to get the stud D that everybody’s been clamoring for -

And this draft has some can’t miss prospect defenseman… At 3 , you’d have your pick or at 4 guys that could step right in…

But it would cost-

If I was Tre, I don’t know if I do it either… But I definitely think about it.

How is it a prospect but also a "cant miss" one? Kinda goes against the definition of prospect, no?

It could also just blow up in their face with a big risk.

Marner will waive after his bonus is paid July 1st, because him and Paul are big on milking every penny possible.

The writing is on the wall in Toronto, and they're not gonna want to go to open market and not be able to get that 8th year.

He will go on to rack up apples in the regular season and do sweet (frank) all in the playoffs for big bucks elsewhere.

That's the smart thing to do for the acquiring team.
