Not trying to start a fight, just a genuine question:

Going into the 24/25 season, would you rather have Eichel @ $10mm or Dahlin @$11mm...the rest of the roster remains the same.

You can only have one on the roster.

- washedup20

Dahlin

Eichel fits in with Vegas. Boston kid in Sin City and a room full of established stars. He still doesn’t fit in here, especially as the franchise player.

Dahlin fits the role here a little better.

Touché, I agree with this.

Ruff has to light a fire under Power, you can't use age, Benson was 18....

- washedup20

Or 19?

I think they placed their bet on Cozens as 2C, with Mitts as a viable option. I think he'll be fine.

Does this org really have championship caliber offensive talent? I'm skeptical. Feels like they are walking into a situation of overpaying a lot of players who are just pretty good.

No. But I believe that they will be adding a T6 guy

I'm doubtful on that as well. Even if they do, I hear top 6 and assume that means 2nd or even 3rd line. Just another OK player. I don't see them pulling the trigger on anything big. It would take a big shift in their long term plan to pay anyone.

In the sense you dont have to trade for him or you expect him to cost less on his contract ?
- DirtyDan

Both.
FA = zero Acquisition Cost
1 x $2.05m is EH's projection by the twins...$515k less.

My perfect scenario is that Dahlin/Power play on separate pairs and basically own the ice for 51ish of the 60 minutes available to play.

I think Tage is a viable 1C.

I think the need could be a 2C.

Cozens might be a better winger or championship caliber 3C

- sbroads24

If Cozens can revert back to his '22-'23 self, he is a 2C at ~ 31/37/68. Like most young C's continuing to build out his 200' game and improving 9n the dot are the next steps

Still, a healthy Tage (which he wasn't for half the year, at least) is a great player, capable of 35-45 goals. He isn't as dynamic a player as most #1 centers (size makes him look like he's doing everything in slow motion), his skating is nowhere close to Jack (but Tage gets there and his long strides are very deceiving), but his shot is world class, his hands are some of the best and he's not a douche.

So, give me Dahlin over Eichel, because I still have Thompson.

It's tough to blame Eichel for the Sabres during his time in Buffalo, they have been just as embarrassing w/o him while he went on to win a cup.

Dahlin agreed to blame the fans and rally around a meatball....

"But no mean tweets" argument works here I guess.

What do you mean by championship offensive talent?

Also, how do you have any insight on that for players that have never made the playoffs?

If you're talking about Dakota Joshua, I thought the projection was 2 years at $2M per, and not one year.

With it being Buffalo, it means it would likely cost at least $2.5M per.

the gm did not get a top 6 guy last season when he knew quinn was missing half the year

so what makes it clear the gm will get a top 6 guys this summer when jack is "healthy"

if you get getting a top 6 guy, what does that say about quinn, peterka, tuch, skinner, savoie, kulich, rosen, etc

unless its for a top 6 center and tage is being moved to the wing

It says Skinner sucks.

Kulich Rosen arent ready for the top 6. They could get there by camp, in-season(I doubt it). But not as of right now.

Legitimate question: What am I missing? I see a baby giraffe who is ultimately a healthy scratch in the playoffs (even though he plays a few minutes a game).

What is his up side? What is his ceiling?

4 wingers

between tuch, skinner, peterka, quinn, savoie, benson, kulich, rosen, etc

if you do not have 4 from all of those, you need a new gm

Rangers have lost 1 game with him in the lineup. Got murdered by Florida without him in game 1.

People say he only plays 5-10 minutes a game. So does Lomberg for Panthers but I've seen his name floated around here to acquire.

Why should these guys be top 6 wingers in their first or second seasons?

Use them for depth currently. Give them some time to marinate in the league before throwing em into the fire.

ZZzzzzzz.. Says more about the 9milliondollarman than those prospects.

Eichel was an absolute bumhole while here, pushed for a big contract and the C without earning it and the management put trust in him, gave him what he wanted, only for him to demand a trade 1 year later. You can argue whether or not the Sabres handled his injury properly, personally I think the Sabres were kind there, but either way, there is no room to argue Jack wasn't a complete child during his time here.

It's a giant contradiction, isn't it? They've needed help at F for years. Now that these prospects are in the NHL or close, we're supposed to believe that KA will flip a switch and trade his prized F prospects for older, more expensive F's? The reality that he can't pay all his guys has already started to hit him.

It's much easier to see him trying to shake up their D or making bottom 6 moves.
