small market teams need to do more

if money is no issue , we should have the most scouts in the entire league IMO

michael amadio is a super interesting idea.
- TheSabresTaco

I had originally dismissed him, despite really liking him as a player, due to his super low salary right now, but after checking his contract prediction, maybe Vegas can't afford him?

we are in the midst of the longest playoff draught in professional sports history when half the teams get in

the longest drought in history

I think we are at the point where instead of having moral victory laps, they need to think outside the box and work harder with more than the other teams as we need to catch up

lol yeah I know. Tough to pass up on guys that are clearly the best available even at the same size, but that’s why Rosen may have been a frustrating pick looking back. Possibly wouldn’t needed to take that goalie in the second if they took Wallstedt, and would have allowed them to take Casey, Luneau, or Warren. Insert Wallstedt and one of those RHD in the system in place of Rosen (who I like btw) and Leinonen and Catton wouldn’t look less appealing.
- SDSabre

Rosen, Poltapov, Leinonen

vs.

Cossa or Wallstedt, Zellweger, one of Casey, Lueau or Warren

There's no question which grouping of the above would greater benefit the Sabres.

Worst is it's not hindsight, as all the players I mentioned were being called out as Sabres picks each time the Sabrses picked.

look. i get what you're saying. and it used to have merit, when we had like 4-5 scouts tackling multiple regions. there comes a point where too many cooks is a negative. look at literally any industry. except maybe porn. but you know, other than that. when you have the sufficient amount of bodies, which is absolutely necessary, then it comes down to 'are you good at your job'. Botterill's guys (frank)ing were not. Neither were Murray's. Kevyn's, remains to be seen.

I could say things look ok for now but this conversation is meaningless for at least another year. mid-late rounders usually have a 3-4 year projection to see if they even might make the NHL.

Guys i posted above seem to have that edge as of now.

you need smarter, not harder. 15-20 guys is a league average.

You're better than this. You know why they gutted their scouting department and started over. It had/has ZERO to do with money. And you also know they've been building it back up for a couple years.

If all it took was having the "most" scouts, and zero qualifications, all you Hockeybuzz jamokes would have a job downtown 😉😂😁

Bruins employ 20 scouts.

Do they hit on their 3rd-7th rounders more than anyone else? no.
