Their contract predictions are based on percent of cap limit.

Always have been, and it's why people that scream how can Dahlin make more then Makar don't understand anything other then salary.

Keeping the predictions based on what they have is the smart move for now, with how long it has been since the cap rose.

Will GM's be unable to resist handing out bloated contracts again?

One example is Konecny is looking for north of $10M per.

I get all that, my point of view would not be to flat increase across the board (don’t know what they did) but rather have a sliding increase scale for top of the lineup players. That’s all.

- if the 3rd party team holds say $3m, then they get $5m of Cap Space through this trade to be used on something else like another Dman
- get a a 25 - 35 goal scorer in Skinner, who could pop 40
- get a RhD that has played top 4 before and could be a useful partner in Joker

That's not a bad proposition.

That would be the way to do it. Those players who signed one year deals, and players like them that now will become FA's is likely where the bigger percentage of increase would be.
Then again, I could be 100% wrong too.

Buffalo might not be able to land a top 20 UFA, but Toronto can sign multiple, below market value.

Just gonna keep saying they need a trade before UFA. Can't count on getting what they need from UFA.
