Today is the day.
The last day of planting stuff around the house.
(frank) me this is a lot of work…and I’m a farmer boy. I got tricks.

- Woderwick

I f'n wish.
Since i built a new fence with my neighbour, we cut down and removed so much brush and several poplars and trees that i still need to remove from the yard. Then i gotta raise a portion on the deck and replace most of the planks.
Oh and still pay for the new roof.

Same here. Veggies in raised beds and some planters, herbs in pots, bushes trimmed, perennials divided, weeded, moved, fertilized roses, acid added for plants that needed it, new fruit bushes added, fence wire added for new espalier apple tree. Phew!

Sounds nice. I wanna see photos from everybody's gardens. We have a butterfly and herb garden in our backyard. Tons of butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

We do most of our veggies in the fall and "winter". Summer is too hot for most vegetables here. It will absolutely murder your tomatoes and more delicate stuff.

"Full Sun" does not mean FULL SUN in Florida. If the nursery tag says "Full Sun", put it in partial shade, trust me. There are a few hardy exceptions, but not many.

You should post an unsolicited deck pic for Babcock.

Holy frank! We’ve been lucky that last 4 years with regard to trees. None have needed replacing. Stock up on beers and Gatorade

One of my fishing spots had its carp barriers breached and carp were everywhere, thrashing around like crazy - I think they might have been getting their sexy on.

I had a beetle spin on and dangled it un front of them thinking carp don't go for that - which one totally did! Now I've got a full size, horny carp on a medium rod and eventually he broke me off.

Yeah, it’s spawning time. You should get some carp gear, Zez. You would love it.

I never had any interest in them, but they're (frank)ing everywhere and that poop was heavy - and sitting with corn on a hook on the bottom might be a change of gear from my usual walking and casting.

I don't know if you like catfish, but the Peace River (where I hunt for fossils) is loaded with them.

I used to bring my rod and tackle with me on hunting trips, but I almost never fished while fossil-hunting. I can fish all year, but can only hunt fossils for a couple of months.

It would take a few bucks to rig up, carp rod, bait runner alarm reel, rod holder, hair rigs, boilies. The accessibility to that fishery and the fact they pull like stink is very appealing to city and urban anglers. It’s a lot of fun.

Only freshwater fishing I’ve done in FLA was for largemouth and peacock bass. I have caught a few Gafftopsail cats in the Gulf in my many excursions. Saltwater catfish seem weird to me, lol.

I used to fish a lot with my dad and grandad growing up and they liked salt. I'm more of a freshwater guy. I understand the appeal of the gulf and open water, but I like my creeks and trees.

I don't think I have ever reeled in a saltwater cat, or not that I can recall. A lot of saltwater fish seem weird AF to me.

I agree, but you ever know with a team that well coached, Seattle was stacked last year and got upset. Saginaw is stacked too. Cannot wait to see how the Knights match up with Moosejaw.

Crazy thing about the Knights is they only made 1 deadline move this year and that was exchanging overage 3rd line centers

- jribout

You saw the same thing to a certain degree in the final 4 this yr….

DU didn’t have the horses of either BC or BU but coaching and tactics won out over talent and Denver has another NCAA crown ….

Wouldn’t be surprised at a similar outcome in Memorial Cup -

Not a fan of carp. One of my favorite fishing excursions was a charter I did in Maui years ago. We were catching loads of yellow fin tuna. One of the more vocal Americans in the group hooked onto something pretty big. It was a Wahoo. This thing fought like crazy, when it was in the boat, it took a look around and lunged straight at the guy holding the rod. It bit him and lodged the lure in the poor bastard's ass. We had to go back to shore to get the guy to the hospital. Unlike carp, wahoo is one of the best eating fish around.

Replacing planks licks choad. Just spent this weekend ripping up bad planks on a steel channel deck foundation. Some really crap pressure-treated wood that only lasted 5 years. Think I must have pried out a thousand self-tapping screws.

The good thing is I get to go to work tomorrow.

Oh I can laugh at myself. Everyone can.

I just can't laugh about anyone else anymore.

- Scabeh

Here's a little mental exercise on laughing:
Try to think of ANYTHING (external to yourself) that you find funny, that isn't on some level offensive or pointed to someone else.

I don't think it's possible.
I think the reason we laugh in the first place, is usually just relief that it's not us in that situation.
It sucks to be human, and laughing is the tonic. You take away that tonic by not being able to laugh at the less fortunate.
