I think a key to beating this Florida team is to take the neutral zone with speed and carry it into the offensive zone. Dump and chase is fine, but has been ineffective. The Panthers play the pass so well and that’s where they look to get their forecheck going. Laf’s goal, as unique and sick of a play as it was, is a great example.
Their D give up decent gap and the forwards are looking to pounce offensively/not helping the D out with support coming back. |

I mean come on this has been the theme of this blog all season. This is just another chapter.
We weren’t allowed to enjoy a president’s trophy winning season and we certainly aren’t allowed to enjoy a weekend where they won two overtime games in the eastern conference finals.
I can’t apologize any more than I already have - jimbro83
I am enjoying the heck out of the win. That doesn’t mean I can’t criticize or be concerned at times. But that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the victory |

Can you believe we had two overtime wins in the eastern conference finals in one weekend?
How insane is that |

I saw the Friday night one when I got the newspaper Saturday am. Yesterday was just doubling down. Mission this round is only halfway done. Get two more wins and hope the West series goes seven |

TomGulittiNHL:
“As lopsided as Game 3 looked (and was for much of it), NHL EDGE Puck and Player Tracking had the high-danger shots on goal at 10-8 Rangers.
Of Florida's 108 shot attempts, 41 were blocked and 29 missed the net. 38 went on net.”
This is the classic bend but don’t break strategy - airjan23

The thing is Im not even being a pessimist. I just find it funny acknowledging that the Rangers played poorly for the majority of the game, despite winning, gets you flamed. - aecliptic

Its crazy to watch them continuously pull wins out of their arse.
Im pretty sure yesterday was the last time my friend allows me in his peaceful craft beer shop on the UWS during a Rangers game. |

I can’t tell you how many times over the years the Rangers lost a heart breaking game they deserved to win.
But ok, I’ll apologize for yesterday’s win if it means keeping the peace - jimbro83

One of the people at the bar was trying to understand how the Panthers had 100+ shot attempts to the Rangers 40. When most of it is trash, its just a number.
Volume has never been the Rangers game style as much as we would like to see more of it, especially from specific players. |

This is a great line from the Sportsnet recap:
“The Rangers are the pasty Fort Lauderdale tourist who lathers himself in olive oil, splays out on the beach and somehow escapes without a sunburn.” - airjan23
Yeah that's not me, I'm getting burned. Got some sunburn at a BBQ yesterday that was 3 hours long.

As far as I can see TJs the only one who has talked about Lafreniere’s goal other than Jan’s write up since the game ended yesterday at 6:33pm - jimbro83

The analytics debate is so effing boring. Please stop everyone. We all get it. Allow it to die. We aren't still in 2021 or whatever when the debate was relevant. Just let it go. Who cares. Just enjoy the hockey this time of year - t-dawg

Best part about Laf is that he shines in these kinds of physical hockey games, where space is taken away and we're playing the best and hardest teams to play against. Panarin doesn't seem to have that trait in his game unfortunately. Not sure if it's his lack of size/physicality or lack of being a speed/tenacious forecheck type player. Laf is making up for it by becoming that guy we all wish Panarin would be. |

100 to 40 is fine if it's a 1 off. But to do that more often than not is a problem. Short series or even over the course of a season. We've all seen it before with the Rangers. They won, the positive pity party people were told to be happy.
But it's also fair the acknowledge what needs to be better with them because this Panthers team is very good. |

Any idea how far out they are planned? Would consider going for game 6 (which is hopefully not needed) but haven’t been able to find any info. |

Yup. I mean for Panarin unfortunately it's no surprise, but if Panarin and Zib each score 1 goal per game over the course of the next two games we play, then all of a sudden our chances of us winning those games is going to go up a ton. However, it's hard to have confidence in those two. But I do have faith right no in Goodrow, Laf, and Trocheck as we all do based on there compete levels each game.
But yeah people have said it we could use some bottom six goals and we got some finally from Goodrow and Wennberg. Anyway let's keep that going and have Igor be Igor and we're good.

Oh you know I dont care, I call it like I see it. Of course Im ecstatic they won, but you cant help but put your hands to your face and shake your head at how they're winning these games. Being up 4-2, coming off another clutch goal from Goody to start the 3rd period, they have to come out and put their foot on Florida's throat and they didnt.
We know what this team looks like when they play their best hockey. These games are just ugly because we know what they're capable of doing.
Someone mentioned it before, Lavy should consider putting Miller back with Schneider in game 4. |

Absolutely crucial to have bottom 6 scoring, but being 0-fer on the PP this series is brutal. |

Very true, need to capitalize on those opportunities. FLA has been. To me, if we keep getting elite play from Shesty and we start making them pay for penalties, we are in the finals. |

Even me can’t believe they’ve won 2 games without a PP goal while giving up 3 I think? It is. Because that’s why we beat the canes, special teams. To me it’s a good sign moving forward this series, especially winning yesterday, and why I’m so positive today because the PP should get it going eventually. To boot, they can’t play any worse and I’m not sure Florida could play much better than yesterday so that should bode well the rest of the series. |
