Jesus ....you guys got loud enough to wake up Silas. He drops in, disrespects himself and now he's probably doing some corporal mortification to make himself feel better.

Shame on you all!

Your version of reality is funny.

Here's a little tax evasion for Tavares in Toronto.

You do understand that this case could affect every player who gets big signing bonuses as a way to minimize their tax liability. It’s not tax evasion

I spend the entire 18 AAV we do have on bringing in tougher, more playoff sturdy players and improve the D. Bring in a cheap 1A to split time with Woll. Sign or acquire a bigger ticket goalie once Tavares' contract expires.

I move him to LW (like Stamkos) and hope you can squeeze enough offense out of him in his final run with Matthews and Marner. Put Domi at 2C with Nylander because they'd compliment each other pretty well. You can put Tavares at C occasionally for the FOs for situational reasons.

When Tavares' contract expires, you don't bring him back, not even at a discount. He's going to be 35, won't put up offensive numbers, can't skate all that great and defensively, not a strong bottom-six candidate.

And I'm serious, I wouldn't take him at even 5 AAV at 35+. I'd rather sign or acquire a player in his prime than trying to go back to that depleted well.

I like JT, especially at a discount. Lower than 5M. 3 would be that unrealistic, hopeful, fantasyland number for me.

If I lived in the Toronto area and anyone approached me and said "how do you feel about moving to Salt Lake City Utah in the US?", I would laugh them out of the room. I might punch the person who suggested it. I mean, why the (frank) would anyone in their right gottdammed mind willingly do that? I'd literally rather live in a cardboard box under a bridge in Canada than the nicest mansion in all of Salt Lake (frank)ing City Utah U-S-of-A.

Canada is a horrible place to live. Moved out for a number of reasons. If someone offered me a mansion in SLC I’d be there in a heartbeat.

Wifey and I just made a spinach avocado chicken salad. Fried up some bacon for the salad, then decided to fry Panko crusted Haloumi cheese in the bacon fat. Wish I could send you all a bite.

Tax evasion is trying to hide income or falsify business records. For example, the Trump Organization was found criminally guilty of tax evasion. Tavares is in a dispute with the CRA over the interpretation of his signing bonus. Josh Donaldson and Russell Martin went through the same thing from their time with the Jays. There is no accusation of criminal behaviour.

Hope that helps.

I was going to stay and post some hockey related stuff - but by the looks of it I’m not dressed for it. My shirts have sleeves.

BC is the best place for watching sports on TV isn’t it? You can even stay up for the 3rd period of NY-FLA. 😁

Funny in that he's playing where he wants to play?
I did not make up the story that he signed to play in TO.
It's not my "version" of anything. It actually happened.

But your take has no basis in fact. It's just wishful thinking because it will benefit the team you cheer for. Good luck with that.

My first trip to BC was a fishing trip to Tofino a million years ago. It was crushed by bad weather. High winds, rain, low clouds. The entire trip was a waste. Couldn’t see anything. I hated BC that trip. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.

All that matters is that the sun came out for the wedding ceremony in Kelowna. It wasn’t raining enough to be a problem here in Salt Spring

If you could take the best parts of the US way of doing things with the best parts of the Canadian way of doing things, you'd have something we would all want to live in. Dump out the worst parts and just keep what works best for each country.

That won't happen. So you have some folks on both sides of the border who look at the other and see it as greener in some way.

Any person with the financial means to pack up and move their family from one to the other would surely weigh the benefits and tradeoffs. There are always tradeoffs. In the context of Marner, there are some benefits to Utah like taxes and a less intense media/fanbase. There are also tradeoffs - healthcare for his family will be expensive and there is increased gun crime like school shootings.

These are real world considerations for any job field, even professional athletes. Simply put, even if Marner agrees to waive, would he actually want to give up Canada and make the US his primary residence for at least the better part of a decade?

I apologize for being a Richard about it earlier.

Infanticide is not a virtue. You all came from the womb. You’re a nasty hypocrite if you’re not pro-life.

If only the usual suspects would shut up for once and stick to hockey.
