he put up back to back 60+ point season. had a down year and had 40+. So that is what he offers. Take my chances over a broken-down ex selke. Maybe it ends up being worse, still would take the risk.

you or someone proposed the deal. I gave my opinion on said deal.

Stop believing anything that comes out of these guys mouth. They are paid to lie. They spend all last season talking about what a big part of the future Cutter Gauthier would be while secretly trying to trade him.

yeah people say with conviction that they "tried hard to resign walker" and there is no evidence for that. it's GM speak - we really like the guy and tried to resign him but in the end did the best thing for the team. saying we tried hard to resign him is being extremely gullible - or at the very least obtuse to fit a narrative.

The Walker trade was a clear rebuilding move and for people who have spent all year saying this team isn’t in a rebuild can’t have proof against that theory. They have to pretend it almost never happened.

The Flyers may not be rebuilding. We will know more this summer but the they didn’t even want to do the Walker trade narrative is just nonsense.

if it is 10+ mil like eklund reports he's asking, he's 100% getting traded
- 2Real

To whom??? What team is going to give you much for a 1 yr rental. The real good teams dont have the Cap space for him and the bad teams dont need him. Probably will be able to get more at trade deadline when real contenders try and replace injured player like Vegas does every yr.

It was reported that the Flyers negotiated to try and re-sign Walker. We know that as much as we know anything. If it was a clear rebuilding move, they don't try and re-sign him first. It's fair to give them credit for not overpaying what they think he was worth but it wasn't a clear rebuilding move. That's not pretending that it almost never happened. It's simply looking at the reason why he was traded. It's not nonsense. It's reality and it points to their mindset.

trading a free agent to be who you tried to re-sign then traded is a rebuilding move?

more like it was the right thing to do.

It was GM subterfuge to drive up the cost. You know that you just don’t like it.

Most real contenders don't have many top level prospects and their picks will not be high picks. Why wouldn't a real good team take him for a full season and then let him walk to free agency just as they would if they traded for him at the deadline? The Flyers can retain to help with the cap. The Flyers have to find the right fit for a trade partner.

You have “reports” they tried to resign him. I mean no one would ever lie to the press. Or maybe it was the crack journalists who knew about Gauthier being on the market or Michkov visiting their practice facility. Or maybe it was just a maintenance issue that required the practice facility to be closed.

That's speculation on your part as opposed to the reliable sources who reported that they tried to re-sign him. You know that, you just don't like it. It's not something that I made up but something that was reported. As opposed to what you posted. Which is made up. The Flyers didn't trade him because they wanted to rebuild. They traded him because they didn't like the cost of re-signing him. The reason behind the trade matters if you're using it as a measure of if they're truly rebuilding.

Reliable sources in the hockey world generally don't get played and know the difference between what you're talking about and what actually happened.

Reliable sources are fed information by agents or front offices. They don’t break news anymore. I thought that was widely known by now. It’s the same reason Konecny’s contract demands were leaked. The front office wanted it out there. Unfortunately it was probably done to soften the news of the extension when it finally hits. That will be plenty proof that they aren’t rebuilding but making up a narrative about wanting to resign Walker is just playing dumb to prove your point. I would assume you are smarter than that.

Im confident this won’t be an 8 year deal. I think they may sign him if konecny agrees to 6 years.

Fire Torts.

Trade Farabee.

Smuggle Michkov in Fedotov's luggage.

There's a lot of players we would like to move but some are unmovable.

It'll be an interesting summer/draft.

Soften the news? An extension is what most flyer fans want to have happen imo.

wouldn't give this team the salt off a pretzel at this stage.

also, would by them on the secondary market as going for cheap.

I don’t think so. I think the press is all aboard the Konecny extension but I don’t think fans are that invested in the player. His popularity is being overblown. The internet community will hate it regardless.

The tell was Snow the Goalie bit. They sent out ASF speaking such nonsense about 10 mil being fine and he will be easier to trade with an 8 year deal. It contradicted everything he said for years about long term contracts. They don’t do that if they felt they didn’t have to get fans onboard with that type of extension
