also, apparently Mathias Brunet asked a few GMs around the league if they would hypothetically trade Cole Caufield for the #6 overall, and most of them would pull the trigger.

interesting to consider but I'm not sure if it would be the greatest move in the grand scheme of things for the habs' rebuild, at some point you have to move forward with it and stop accumulating picks, and I think Cole's contract is gonna be looking really good if he produces as he should.

As I said with Zegras a few weeks back, if you draft a guy 6th overall and he turns into Cole Caufield, you're pretty damn happy.

It would make no sense for the Habs to trade the 22 year old guy that's already become what you're hoping that draft pick will become just in the hope he might be even better in 4 years. That'd be a huge and stupid gamble.
