Fair, I’m just basing my opinion off of is first 60 games as a Canuck and they were excellent. Can’t say I watched many DET games

I am not particularly aggressive about either player. I would definitely choose Z over Hronek. I find Hronek very average and would only pay him five mil. I know lots here like him but I thought he was very average riding on Hughes coattails.

He doesn’t carry a pairing & hence shouldn’t get paid like one. That said he’s a RHD & will get paid more than I think his value is. That’s what the market dictates sadly.

He's an RFA, there's no reason they can't negotiate him to a lower number. If he wants to hold out let him sit while you look for a trade in the fall

That’s all fine til he invokes his arb rights & signs for 1 & done. He either signs at a fair price or PA has to decide to trade him or not before his arb hearing.

If they are signing Zadorov it will be well before free agency. That goes for all their free agents because open market they will get more for sure.

Now as for Canucks going after other free agents well it’s all about what money is left over. Bidding wars tend to price a team, looking to have a balanced roster, out.

UFA’s are not forced to sign. They either sign or test the UFA market.

NHL really screwed up not starting the finals sooner. They could have had a few different scenarios in place depending on who won the west. Fan interest will drop because of the long wait, weathers getting better, more things to do outside. Game 1 should have been tonight, tomorrow at the latest.

They do the same thing every year, it's to give the NHL time to have the stars of the Finals teams do the media touring circuit and have tons of talking heads give analysis and commentary and for the teams to try and rest up injuries to be ready for the Finals and get some practice time in. It'll never change honestly.

The Vancouver Canucks may never have won a Stanley Cup, but in 2024 they could just be a surrogate parent to one.

I’m a grinder at heart few players get the big pay day. Pay to win needs a roster cap structure. Pay 1 top C, 2 top D, 1 sniper. From there it’s tier 2 contracts for a 2C & top 3 D. Goalie if a stud is high tier 2 money. Goal is ELC’s blended with great value spent on depth to round out the forwards. Speed is essential. D depth only has to be big & mobile if 3 top D are in place with 1 spot open to a prospect if earned.

No thanks – I used to think the same thing but watching and reading about him, he's not Tocchet's kind of player. Scratched on the Rags and was mainly a winger I think.

Fully agree. Starting the playoffs 2 weeks later and dragging them out has made me lose interest altogether. In my part of BC we only get 3 months of summer and/or warm weather and unless my team is playing… I’m not wasting 1 of those months watching hockey.

Also if EDM/Dallas went to game 7 it was scheduled for Tuesday night June 4th in Dallas. Plus these buildings have other events going on where they play the finals. Scheduling isn't as easy as people think.

Agree. In the Peg he thought highly of himself & never played up to it. A 4th liner at best imo.

I’d do that if Hronek is asking north of 7.5m. Would have to go for either of Pesce or Roy or Tanev to fill in RHD.
