That press conference would be wild. Hopefully he can get it done before sj stops gracing us with his presence. |

Sure, but then you'd have Skinner in your lineup every night for 3 years. When he is right, you can usually put up with his warts. If you can't get him there, that's a looooooooooooong time. - Slump Buster
I hear ya, that's the corner Botts put us into. Was just pointing out that if you have the choice of Skinner + a Jarvis level player vs neither of them, you take his contract and try to move others. Move Clifton, accept you're bridging both Peterka and Quinn, then just hope for the best in the rest of the contract negotiations. If Skinner falls off completely, he's immovable at 9M, so I think you just try to win with a deeper lineup and give him those topline minutes you spoke of to maximize the return as best you can. |

The two don't belong in the same conversation until Quinn puts up 35 goals and 80+ points imo. Not to mention the aspects of the game that Quinn doesn't possess beyond points - Hank Balling

Not being able to rationalize why the Sabres had to retool following dealing two superstar forwards does not make me delusional.
And blaming Adams for Murray and Botts tenures isn’t the way to go about it either.
Having at least half a brain is a hell of a drug. Poor Taco is going to be the only one on here with one once I call it quits - Swedish_Jesus
Tanking is not retooling but ok
If that doesn't make you delusional then surely believing the Rangers and sabres are the same type of losers this year does |

LATEST ON MARTIN NECAS
THE JEFF MAREK SHOW: Marek spoke with colleague Elliotte Friedman about potential suitors for Carolina Hurricanes winger Martin Necas.
Friedman isn’t sure that some of the teams reportedly interested in Necas (Vancouver and Montreal) have what the Hurricanes want for the winger. The Boston Bruins could offer up goaltender Linus Ullmark, noting the two teams discussed the former Vezina Trophy winner before the March trade deadline.
Marek noted the Buffalo Sabres have a lot of prospects and draft capital to use as trade bait. However, he doesn’t think any of that works for the Hurricanes. |

Pegula’s commitment
The first Sabres-related question Guelli was asked last week: Is Pegula open to selling the team he bought in 2011 for $189 million?
“I can tell you that hasn’t been discussed, at all,” Guelli said. “I think Terry’s commitment to hockey in this town should be pretty clear. I don’t know if there are too many owners who are as invested into hockey as he is, particularly in a smaller market like Buffalo.
“He loves the sport, he understands the importance of it to the City of Buffalo and (how) the team and arena can be a catalyst for growth downtown.”
Guelli also is aware of the perception that his priority is the football team. Since moving to Buffalo, he said he spends two days apiece at the Bills and Sabres and Friday is a “swing” day, based on his meeting schedule.
“It’s amazingly fulfilling to make decisions across both (teams) and then trying to determine where the two connect to create upside for both,” he said.
Guelli, along with Adams and Laura Pegula, are the Sabres’ alternative governors, a role that includes voting on league proposals. Guelli will attend his first NHL board of governors meeting in late June.
Arena renovation project
Construction on a new roof started after the Sabres’ season, the addition of a new scoreboard will begin July 1 and both are expected to be completed in August. According to an industry source, the price is around $13 million and will be paid by Pegula.
Once it was deemed that the current scoreboard couldn’t be used as a frame for the new screens, the Sabres looked at multiple options before selecting a Mitsubishi brand.
Guelli said the Sabres are “talking through” a new sound system, and it is on the team’s radar.
The guy tries to do everything on the cheap. He is not serious at making this franchise better, regardless of what his yes man says. |

Doesn't that all kind of depend on the extension? I mean if the kid goes Konecny on us, then it's probably a bad ROI. If it's a legitimate deal...he is a legit player. |

Trade 1: The Three-Way Trade
The first big move of this offseason projection is a three-team trade. These have become more common in the NHL in the last few years and this trade is on the realistic side if no-move clauses are waived.
Buffalo Sabres acquire from the Los Angeles Kings: Phillip Danault – C
Los Angeles Kings acquire from the Calgary Flames: Jacob Markstrom – G
Calgary Flames acquire 11th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Buffalo Sabres
Trade 2: Sabres acquire forward Pavel Buchnevich from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Ryan Johnson and 43rd overall in the 2024 NHL Draft
Trade 3: Utah Hockey Club acquires Henri Jokiharju from the Sabres in exchange for 49th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft
Free Agents
I made one free-agent signing and it was the same one I made in my last mock offseason. I signed Erik Gustafsson to a one-year deal worth $2.25 million. |

I'm trying not to hold it against Lindy, but hiring KA without looking + hiring Donnie without really looking is hard to overlook completely.
If they don't make the playoffs this year, it's a mess. Terry isn't going to want to pay Kev, Donnie, and Lindy all not to work for him. They need a strong start in the worst way. - Lunaion
Agreed
The lack of interest in playing/living in buffalo still wrings true though.
Would any top coach really consider Buffalo?
They need to find a way to start hot and win at home |
