Edmonton has used a first in 3 of the last 4 drafts. Before 2023 the last time they didn't select in the first round was 2006.

Skinner/Greenway/Joker/Clifton/Byram - all not worth their current contracts - let alone raises.

Tage/Cozens/Dahlin/Power are all over paid.

The cap situation in Buffalo is a mess, NHL ready ELC's will bring minimal impact on the ice. The entire roster needs to be rebuilt, Konency is a piece I would bring in and build around. The roster is not strong, the prospects are not good enough to rely on.

Adams idea that ELC's and building through the draft to create a competitive team, have resulted in Adams needed to move the prospects and picks to attempt to acquire NHL talent now, he is now rushed by his own failures. It's an idea that looks good in 2D but gets destroyed in 3D.

Adams won't do anything dramatic this offseason, this trade would be dramatic so it's a non-starter. He has so many other problems on top of destroying the cap advantage the team had, Lindy has requested a full time nurse to keep his blood pressure in check.

I don't disagree with anything you have stated here and generally feel the same. My posts about Konecny are with the thought of the current roster and Cap space while also factoring in Adams' ineptitude...he isn't shaking the roster up too much. In that light, Konecny's contract demand would kill them.

I asked Sabretooth9 if Tage was a 1C because he commented about the need to have a strong C to win the cup (which I agree with)... I was going to then take it down a path similar in nature to your post above.. but got tired and put the tablet down.

Adams isn't even considering the shake up you implied is needed, and which I agree with.
