How was the identity crisis avoidable, sooner or later you got to play some Defense, especially in the playoffs. - Buff36
I think it was avoidable by firing the coach when it was appropriate to do so
Not 5 months too late |

The identity point is a great one and its something I hope they resolve
I think a puck pressure grinding type of game with active defense is what this team could be capable of. Regardless of what they try to be they still need to find some net front presence and more edge throughout the lineup
Will adams supplement the roster to help and will the players buy in to whatever they need to do are very big questions of this group - ieetbred
Like the Second Paragraph very much, been basically saying this for a bit! 🎯 |

Well either way the team was gonna have to learn some sort of D, run and gun only works so long. |

Looking at the cap, Bennett and Mantha will get decent change, I'm just not sure you can resign both Peterka and Quinn if they're on the books. Losing one of them to add Bennett or Manrha feels like bad biz. |

100%, but there are much better ways to go about that then what they did this year.
You need to let your horses run, plain and simple.
We went from a top 3 rush based team to one of the worst in the span of 12 months with almost the exact same personnel. All to improve marginally defensively.
Do we need to improve the depth of the roster ? Absolutely
But there is a way for Buffalo to activate Dahlin, Power, Byram and get on the attack without committing to full blown pond hockey |

Yes there is, in your face 200ft Puck pressure Hockey. Use your Speed and heavy forecheck to disrupt the other Teams offense. It's a system they have the Speed and Talent to run, but they have to buy in.
Edit: They need a few Bennett, Joshua, Trenin in that nature to compliment what they have. |

Wow, Fauci exposed today. Literally lied to Americans like meltdown Mike and brainwashed them. Lied about masks, social distancing and vaccine. Pretty much made it all up. Poor Meltdown Mike. Went crazy after the scamdemic and never resurfaced. Privacy still wearing a mask in his own car 😂😂 |

Numbers don’t lie.
Ieetbred wasn’t wrong when he said that Florida was a stingy defensive team in the regular season, the numbers check out.
Florida has not been shy at all about opening their game up in the playoffs though and it has paid dividends. They have been very opportunistic offensively.
At the end of the day, you need to score goals |

So let’s see how many players from the Tim Murray era now been to the finals or won a cup?
ROR, Eichel, Reinhart, Kane, Bogosian, Okposo, Rodriguez, Carrier, am I missing anyone?
Interesting. Then we have Ullmark, Mittelstadt flourishing elsewhere.
Almost seems like he might have known what he was doing.
At least we have Dahlin |

Konecny brings more value to the Sabres than Rosen, Kulich and Ostlund will combined. This doesn't only hold true for next season but for every year he is on the roster as well.
The Panthers have made the rest of the league want power forwards and Konecny is a top 10 in that regard.
Adams overpaying mediocrity is the only reason this contract will be difficult to add, that doesn't mean you hold onto the mediocrity and pass on this opportunity. - washedup20
Kind of going against your own rule there calling Konecny a power forward, aren't you? |

Good post. Mitts is a good player. as i already said, his value to the team was as an asset because they realize they're soft and want to change the dynamic. Krebs was used there as a tryout but their stated goals are top 6 F, 3C, reformat the bottom 6, and as of the deadline, tweak the defense.
Your assets are picks 1 and 2, Rosen Kulich Ostlund Novikov and Neuchev. Savoie too for an incredibly unlikely scenario of overpay by the other team.
They can do it, if they truly want to. - TheSabresTaco
That is quite a lengthy list of stated goals.
How much of that list are they realistically getting done in one offseason?
Further, how much are they getting done to a quality level?
No more Cliftons and Erik Johnsons. |

Yeah people here want to hit more. That goal stuff doesn’t fly here.
1 hit is equal to 10 goals

I just keep coming back to the thought that this prospect pool can't be all that good if he has to trade (and even overpay) for a top 6 winger with all his prospects in or on the verge of the NHL.
Why now and not a year or two ago? - Lunaion
Because Adams is overly cautious, has had no pressure on him, and is terrified to make a big mistake...? |

In Necas, you're getting at least a second line, possibly borderline top line (depending on situation) 25-30 goal, 60-70 point player just entering his prime. Prepare to pay up. - Powerslave
The rumor out there is a Vancouver Carolina near straight up trade of Hronek for Necas.
Makes a lot of sense. |

Trading back into the 1st is not the same thing.
Both teams have traded 4 1st round picks to improve their rosters. Trading back into the 1st is another conversation. - washedup20
Oilers didn't trade back into the 1st from another round lower, like you're making it sound.
They traded for a few spots down from their original pick in the 1st to one slightly lower, still in the 1st. |

If Florida works out a Reinhart deal... Bennett is a goner.
Make a trade for him as a 1 year rental and see if you can convince him to stay or if he's a fit. - sbroads24
Trade for Lundell instead, and immediately sign him to a 6 year deal in the range of $5.5M-$6M per. |
