Panthers love to bully teams around. I remember a game on April 2nd when the bottom 5 young Habs bullied them back and won the game. Jeff Gorton is building that team. That’s your mistake. The man was doing an incredible job and he got fired for a nobody lol

Great, the Habs won a meaningless regular season game when they were way out of the playoffs.

Regarding Trouba, kinda like Fox, let’s see if they were dealing with some serious injuries before we crush them. I’ve been a huge Trouba guy, wanted them to trade for him and have been a big supporter of his, but he was terrible these playoffs. I’m not so sure he wasn’t dealing with something serious.

Ok now I lost you defending trouba. I like the style of his play, but he definitely goes overboard. And he doesn’t provide upside value offensively despite what TJ might say (“outlet passes”).

I think it was pretty clear fox was dealing with an injury. Fox is nothing like Trouba.

Trouba has never been as bad as he was this postseason. He’s a 2nd pair dman; not a top pairing dman and I get the argument his AAV “makes” him a top pair dman. Outside of this postseason I’ve never been on the Trouba sucks train.

The lineup changes or lake thereof left little to be excited about. First line needed a jolt and there was opportunity to take a play out of the past, place Brennan is similar to Kreider. The vets weren’t doing it so why not let some energy in the building. As much as Blake was snow this season he was a solid fourth liner with Rempe. And Trouba, called the cement truck for a reason, poured too much around his footing.

Slow and lacking energy- nothing we have not heard before. This is a team that needs reflection around Laf.

Mako needs to go to Utah or Seattle, same with Trouba. Jones and Robertson need a shot. And we have to be realistic in net; forking up too much term will hinder in the future- need a better look at DG.

It is not all a loss; need to infuse energy and skill and grit. Size matters and we need to counter it.

They have Igor figured out for one more year at least… you can only negotiate extensions in the last year of the contract. IMO, this summer, they should make him the highest paid goalie (for now) for a 6+ year contract.
- banger94

He deserves it, but I hope he accepts that 6+ term over being the highest paid goalie. Maybe match Bobrosky's 10 mil and leave Drury with some room to keep them competitive for a few more years.

Trouba isn’t a 2nd pair dman anymore. When he first came here he was a solid 4. He’s more of a 5/6. Slow, bad gap control, bad positioning and outlet passes. He’s a 3rd pair pk specialist

The reality is fox and Schneider have passed him on the RHD depth chart. So even if you think he is a top 4 or not, he won’t be on this team. Just can’t have someone like that making 8 million against the cap

I do wonder what the rangers do at center. Zib and Trocheck will be here. Wennberg is a free agent and will probably price his way out. Can you really count on Chytill staying healthy? It’s a huge risk with not much else depth

Exactly they also brought him here to run the PP never happened and tried to make him a shut down dman bc he’s big and he’s awful in that role

This team first and foremost needs to improve their 5v5 play. They cant rely on the PP by their fabulous five. It just isnt translating into success in the playoffs in a 7 game series. Whether it is a change of personal or system. it needs to be done.

100% the formula has to change. Bring in players that drive play there and forecheck. Puck moving big defenseman

The past 5 cup winners were top 10 5v5

Agree..but problem is...EVERY team is looking for those players and they come at a premium price. Majority of the players you are talking about stay with the team that drafted them b/c they are so hard to come by. Obviously, Florida traded for Thachuck, but that was a blockbuster deal...NYR doesn't have any current roster players w/ exception of Laf that could garner a return like a Thachuck. NYR has been excellent drafting goalies....BUT not so much on everything else. Gotta start drafting guys whose games will translate better to NHL playoff grind. As an example, Perrault dropped to NYR for a reason..I'd suspect that it's because many don't think his game will translate well to NHL..Otthman, on the other hand looks like a strong/tough player

Perrault dropped mostly bc of his skating. But at BC he went to the dirty areas a lot so will see. Agree you have to draft those guys. Gorton did an awful job at that. Drury needs his prints on this team more. Tro was a good start

Exactly so teams arent even trading these types of players away. This team doesnt have very moveable players or contracts. As much as we are clamoring for a big change, I dont see it happening. There is no way to move Mika and the Wings dont need Trouba. Forget buyouts, dead Cap space killed us for years.

We need to break up 93 and 20. This love affair is over. They killed 5 RWs this season. Is 72 gonna make it thru next season? Huge question mark. What to do with KK? He has no trade value really. Do we keep him as a good third liner? With revamped lines can we put him on the first or second line with different players? Maybe have him play with Panarin?

Paying Kakko 2/3 mill as a 3rd liner is fine by me.... thats what he is. Zibby isn't a 1st line center...Kreider isn't a 1st line LW. Neither ever were 1st liners.

NYR needs to find another center to insulate Zibby....and a 1st line RW...Its the only way to get over the hump. The ship has sailed on getting a bonafide 1C, but getting another 2C to go with Zibby and Trocheck may be good enough.

Drury will have to go scorched Earth this offseason and at the trade deadline. It's the only way NYR can win the cup. Say good bye to the next few 1st rounders.

Kreider never was a first line LW. He is paid to be a second liner. The fan base always had unreal expectations for what he is. Panarin is the top line LW

The problem is Zib is paid to be a standout 1C, so you really can’t bring in another highly paid center when you have him and Trocheck already making about 14 million between them
