Honestly after last year against the devils a lot of us said we were done. Clearly none of that happened lol but i definitely took a less invested approach in terms of letting this team drastically impact my feelings. I still watched all the games and yeah I was pissed in the moment and female doging like everyone else after the loss, but compared to years passed I was basically like you going into that game 6 and have been fine since yesterday lol

Yup. My gf was way more upset than I was. Im still a fan, but (frank) it, not letting guys who make millions ruin my day.

that too. could you imagine we outshot the panthers 35-10 like dallas last night and lost? i probably would have been over the top pissed vs us getting manhandled and deserving not to win.
- Mtlca66

Oh yea lol, would have found a way to get banned on here lol

Yea If the rangers were the better team and lost I would be pissed. But Florida dominated the series, without Igor the rangers easily get swept. Was easier to accept. Just shows moves are needed if they are serious about getting over the hump

The unfortunate thing, and maybe I'm wrong, but the Rangers put so much into building from the goalie out. Dont get me wrong, I love that Shesty is here, but this seems eerily similar to the Hank era. Wasting a great goalie with a team that just isnt built to be a contender.

Nope and Igors cap hit is about to double from 5 million to 10 after next season most likely. Won’t be any better to build out a roster

He's the only one who deserves a raise like that. (Hence why I want scored earth.)

Thanks Jan for writing all those blogs during another long season. We are really lucky to have you. Awesome job once again!!

Funny thing was, I wasn't really upset about losing. I pretty much prepared myself during the regular season. While the Rangers play translates to great regular season stats, I just dont see them as a SC contender. They just aren't built that way.

The thing is, there is no way his play dropped off that bad. I can't figure it out. Probably the thing that bothers me the most.

A great goalie is not enough mdw. Some fans want to talk about puck luck and any team can win once you get into the playoffs. Islanders had very good goalies and played great defense and still lost twice to Tampa.

Just gotta use your free time browsing letterboxd and always having a plan after a loss.
Honestly the thing I hate about the playoffs is the 8PM start. That means it's like game and then bed, which is impossible after a loss. At least those 7PM starts, I can do something after to take my mind off a loss.

I was gonna say who was the last team to win a cup with a top 3 goalie... Tampa? I haven't looked, but its not many

He is a good player, just not a clear cut number 1 center he is being paid to be. We expect him to dominate his matchups 5v5 and he just can’t. Last 3 playoff years:

2022 ECF vs tampa - Cirelli dominated him
Last year vs devils - Nico Hishier ate his lunch
This year vs Jordan staal - same story
Barkov totally dominated the matchup too

What can you do? He is what he is. A solid player who feasts on special teams. If he had Trocheck’s cap hit we would all be fine with it

I think it was Tampa. Most teams win a Cup without a star type goalie. You cannot overpay for bottom pair players. Many teams fall in love with these players and cannot move on. Your bottom pair can certainly help, but you are not winning a Cup without the top 6 and top 4 dmen driving the play.

True, but at least the other playoffs he seemed engaged. This whole year it felt like he showed up cause he had to, and couldn't wait to get home to spin some records

Really just need a hot one. Where they stand on paper amongst the entire league is irrelevant. Nobody raves about Adin Hill but he played well enough for a very good Vegas team and they ended up with one.

Shesterkin nearly dragged the Rangers through a series that they were vastly outplayed in. He played well enough (and then some) to win a Cup, the scoring from the stars just dried up against a Panthers team that doesn't have a single hole in its roster

And I hate the whole, we need to get bigger and tougher talk. imo its so dumb. No the team is plenty big enough, especially our defense. Our best defenseman is rarely ever physical. We need effort. I dont want a team of lumbering big guys who only check and can't score on an empty net.
