Really just need a hot one. Where they stand on paper amongst the entire league is irrelevant. Nobody raves about Adin Hill but he played well enough for a very good Vegas team and they ended up with one.

Shesterkin nearly dragged the Rangers through a series that they were vastly outplayed in. He played well enough (and then some) to win a Cup, the scoring from the stars just dried up against a Panthers team that doesn't have a single hole in its roster

Yeah, thats kind of my point. Hank was probably the best in the league for years and we went to one SCF

Barkov had Zibanejad in literal hell.

He did the same to Kucherov and Pastrnak

And I hate the whole, we need to get bigger and tougher talk. imo its so dumb. No the team is plenty big enough, especially our defense. Our best defenseman is rarely ever physical. We need effort. I dont want a team of lumbering big guys who only check and can't score on an empty net.

You need big mobile defenseman. Fox doe snot fit that bill but when healthy he is good. Miller and schneider do.

Lindgren Gus and trouba do not at all

Miller and Schneider were terrible this previous round. Absolutely awful.

He is a good player, just not a clear cut number 1 center he is being paid to be. We expect him to dominate his matchups 5v5 and he just can’t. Last 3 playoff years:

2022 ECF vs tampa - Cirelli dominated him
Last year vs devils - Nico Hishier ate his lunch
This year vs Jordan staal - same story
Barkov totally dominated the matchup too

What can you do? He is what he is. A solid player who feasts on special teams. If he had Trocheck’s cap hit we would all be fine with it

Maybe he likes being Dominated.... its 2024 ya know

They were bad when split up and saddled with different partners. Also 22 and 24 so still room to improve.

Nah, you need a mix. Forseling was amazing, he isn't overly big or physical. If anything, FL showed that with their constant pressure, we didn't have enough skating and offensive D men. Not that it would have made a difference, but I bet Jones would have been better in that series then almost any other dman.

Not bigger but you need to be able to play a physical / gritty game and not shy away from contact... Trocheck plays it, Laffy has played it, Cullye def showed it in his limited time. Its a style and mindset that you need to be able to play.
Zib looking for an elbowing call from the refs with 10 seconds left instead of fighting for the puck, Panarin not going hard to the net and flipping a weak shot then veering off to the corner are exactly what teams that arent playing anymore do.

Exactly what I was saying. We need more effort. Not necessarily size or weight. Its a mindset on how to play.

On D, we have plenty of guys who hit and can skate pretty well. But we need another Jones type player in there. Fast skating and smart with the puck, he could break a forecheck alone. Thats just my opinion

Not really an effort thing either. Its a players style or will to adjust when the game changes. Some figure it out and others cannot. See Marner and Mika in later PO rounds

Look at their game 6 game scores when paired together. Woof.

Thats the effort part. You play a carolina you can usually be a bit more creative and not necessarily physical. You play FL you need to change the style and play with way more effort. Effort to outbattle on the boards, effort to get in and forecheck, etc.

Small sample and by that time the team was shot. Could look to move Schneider and sign Zadorov or chycrun. There are options

When you say effort I don't think they were not trying or giving their best. Just not capable of playing that way. Literally unable to do it

I wouldn't object if the rangers moved one or both them. I thik they are very overhyped by Ranger fans. I see them nothing more than a 5th or 6th defensemen. Miller is developing backwards.

Yeah, I kind of disagree. And not all the players. I thought there were some who definitely chose not to play that way. I couldn't count how many times a Ranger could have used the body on the boards and chose a stick check. To me, thats a choice. I might be wrong but thats how I see it.

Yea I think their ceilings are good number 4 defensemen if they progress. Rangers do not really have any number 2/3 dmen on the roster. Pretty telling

I hate to agree on this, but I see it too. Might have one awesome game then 4 bad ones, were it was the opposite before

Zib will just never dig for pucks. It not in his DNA. Its why drury wanted eichel over him. Some players just do not have it in deeper PO rounds. Its why neil smith traded gartner

Yeah, I mean I think we are all saying close to the same thing. I just don't dont care about height, weight, give me a bunch of players like Troch, and I think this team would be way better off
