He has 2 playoff goals in 31 playoff games. Not good enough for the 3rd line come playoff time. Also mixed into the 11 and 13 goals he has last 2 seasons is multiple empty netters
- nyrangers9479

So, you're saying that he's relied on to be defensibly responsible and shuts it down when it counts.
Like, I have no idea what it is that would satisfy you. Vesey had 26 points. How is that not good enough from the 3rd line? The grass is always greener.
You want to have 3 rookies in the bottom 6, saying it will increase scoring. You have absolutely no proof to back up that claim and in the process would make us far less defensively sound. Vesey may only have 2 playoff goals, but he has enough assists to put him almost even with his regular season production per 60 and has been on the ice for more goals for than against. He also has 100 more takeaways than giveaways in his career, and 50% more TA than GA's in the playoffs.

Get me PLD for Zib, and this team is much more ready for the playoffs. We might not get the fancy presidents trophy, but we’ll be much more prepared for playoff hockey.

Pld isnt good. He’s been thrown off 2 teams and demoted. He sucks. Have you actually watched him or just going off name

Also the rangers fell apart once Vesey got knocked out of that series vs Florida. Not saying he is the only reason but it played a part. Vesey has one of the best contracts on the roster. He is 100% going to be in the opening night lineup next year

What I’m saying is, IMO, we need a guy like him but with other things besides being defensively responsible. Ideally, he’d be on the 4th line. IMO he doesn’t play physically enough to be on the 4th line but doesn’t score enough to be on the 3rd line. I started this off with I know it’s blasphemy to talk about on here and knew there would be Vesey defenders, just giving my opinion on him/the bottom 6. Bottom 6 needs to be tougher to play against while being able to add some scoring to take the pressure off the top 6.

IDK, man.
Take a look at some of the players that Vesey had more points than this season. And it has nothing to do with supporting him over anyone else. He's not Fast, for crying out loud.
Vesey was one of the guys they looked to when we needed people to drop the gloves and stand up for the team. He had 13 goals and 13 assists in 12 minutes a night and takes 1 minor penalty every 8 games. All for $800,000/yr.
IMO, you are as far off on this opinion as you are about PLD being our answer to the future.

His contract isn’t good at all. And either is his point production. He’s taking the Laine career arc

I’ll let it go, but let’s re-circle this one in a few years like when I wanted Sam Bennett and all I heard on here also was how he sucked and got demoted to his teams 4th line and had attitude issues etc.

I get what you’re saying about him. I don’t hate him as a player or a person, I just don’t think he’s right for this team. That’s my opinion on him. 13th F? Sign me up. Fixture in the bottom 6? I think we can do better.

You watched him huh?

All of his 3rd line minutes. There is a reason he is on the third line, cause he isnt producing. He is an 8.5 mil KK

He’s had more success than Kakko, but it is interested that he’s viewed highly by some mainly do to his size and prior draft status.

Makes me wonder what the actual value of Kakko could be.

Make me wonder why some wouldnt want to see what happens with KK since he is 2 years younger and a much more affordable cap hit.

This guy basically forced his way off 2 teams, isnt producing for this third team so trading for him is kinda of a disaster in the making.

That’s fair too. Kakko has the puck in the offensive zone a ton. If he could be a little more decisive he could pot 25+.

He was a -26 in his first season, and a +30 in the 4 seasons since. I wouldn’t be upset if they kept him, but don’t see it happening unfortunately.

Not his fault the goalie wasn't there. Think Ovie gives a sh!t what you think about all his empty-netters?

I think they ultimately keep him. He scored 18 two seasons ago and 13 in a shortened season this year bouncing around the lineup. If he can be a consistent 20+ goal scorer while playing great defense and locking other teams down, I am okay with that. I understand that most fans are ready to move on from him; but I don't know where else we can find that kind of production for under $3M. Could be low risk, high reward. Plus, his trade value is in the gutter

They will keep KK, he is cost controlled and plays good defensively.

Id break up Zibby and CK20, add in a new RW and see what happens.

This all we say about Kakko. We can’t have could anymore is the problem. The results needed to be there this year. I know he got hurt but the playoffs he was healthy by then, and as invisible as anyone we have

If we weren’t contending for cups you can live with it and wait him out. I just think we’re past that point now. I do understand the reluctance to trade him tho by people, I’m just not one of them anymore

Question...when a team tenders their RFA, is the amount 10% the AAV or the actual salary?

I ask because Lindgren made $4M last year as salary (his 3-year AAV was $3M per...2M, 3M, 4M in the three years). I don't think I want to pay him $4.5M minimum...and he has arbitration rights this time during negotiations.

One of the few ways the rangers can upgrade at RW1 is to move Kakko and use that money to help get one. If they keep Kakko not sure they will have enough cap space to go for an upgrade. Othman could be a cheaper option to replace his production on the 3rd line. I am just not sure anymore they move a Trouba

Ideally Cuylle, or othmann making the team, play RW. That gives them options. Othmann played some RW this year I believe

This is pretty realistic imo

Kreider - Zib - Chytil
Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Othmann - Glass (for Kakko) - Cuylle
Vesey - Goodrow - Rempe
JBrod

then revamp the defense. That’s probably where they may go a little crazy[/img]

D will be different. This could be what we see, though this is WITHOUT signing anyone outside the organization.

Fox/Miller
Jones/Schneider
Trouba/Maccay

or

Fox/Lindgren
Miller/Schneider
Jones/Maccay

Either Trouba or Lindgren will not be here...cannot be here (too much $$$). Gus had a pretty good season and will likely get $3M or so elsewhere; pricing himself out of NY.
