They have to deal with call ups to the NHL where you can suddenly lose a player. And require call ups from midget based on location.

NHL went from 9 to 7 fairly recently (Mark Streit was a 9th round pick in 2004! Last time we had 9).

I'd expect it to drop to 5 rounds next. I think there are still some very interesting gambles at these ranks.

Mind you, this sould make draft picks even more valuable.

a canadian division so we are garanteed to have a canadian team in th top4 every year,
make the 2min minor for instigator a 5min major, especially after a legal hit
drop from 82 to 72 games season, replaced by an extra playoff round with 20 teams making it,
new cba with no more LTIR bullpoop à la Stone,
leafs obliged to keep their core4 for ever
