yeah, I was aware you could vote even if you're outside of the country, it's the part about having to go to Warsaw that I was wondering about...

edit: I'm guessing it's an embassy thing.

I think Demidov is the wild card... if he is still on the board, not sure the Habs can pass on him, regardless of who else is available.

But you just never (frank)ing know with HuGo... that kinda makes it a large part of the fun.

- Mashadar

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think about him ... for some people, he's like the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ while others question the strength of the league he was playing in.

I have no clue.

well he was indeed playing in what is basically a junior league in Russia, but he's also averaging 2 points a game, so he's clearly way too strong for that level, which is a good sign.

You know how sometimes you wish other teams would solve your potential problems?

Like if someone in front of the Habs drafted Demidov.

I think I would be OK with that...

But some mock drafts have both Demidov and Lidstrom available at 5.

(Plus whatever wild card HuGo have on their list).

That would be interesting.

another team drafting Demidov in front of the habs is only "solving a problem" if it turns out his game doesn't translate all that well to the NHL, and he doesn't live up to expectations...

Oh I know.

I think someone in the top 4 takes him, but would not be surprised if he is there at 5 either. Very unpredictable draft after #1, I think you will see a lot of teams draft more on need this year as the prospect pool seems pretty close for the next 10 or so picks (if you believe the player assessments and the various mock drafts/rankings that have players all over the place).

could be, and that still doesn't tell us all that much in terms of who's gonna be available for the habs, considering that the teams in front of them are in need of players at basically every position lol.

I think so too, especially for the Habs ... as we all know we're pretty much set on D, we really need some forward scoring punch.

I expect some right handed D's to go in the top 4 ... good ones are always in demand (thus our Reinbacher pick last year).

people will panic if they ever draft a defenseman, but if they do it's because they're planning on making some trades or already have one in the works, they know they need some help up front.

I think the last time I saw this many D ranked near the top was the 2008 draft when Drew Doughty, Zach Bogosian, Alex Pietrangelo, and Luke Schenn went 2-4.

At least I cannot remember another one recently with that potential to happen.

Well, if you want a forward, this is the year to get one with a later pick.
