Like I said, it is different if you think you are a playoff/cup contender or if you are trying to build a team to make the playoffs in a few years.

That is my take anyways.

Habs gonna do what the Habs gonna do.

- Mashadar

oh I know, but I do find having players in the "right chair" as MSL likes to put is crucial, wether you're aiming to make the playoffs or not.

but hey, as you're saying, "habs are gonna do", and I trust the management and coaching staff to make the right calls, so let's see what happens.

ugh, I miss habs hockey, and the cup final isn't even over yet.

Yeah, but if they manage to pull this off, we could have fun, exciting hockey for years, and if they get lucky and hot at the right time, maybe even a cup.

That is gonna be a lot of fun.

If they can pull it off.

Yeah, he is not a 8 year max guy.

I like the guy, but...

- Mashadar

He's legit a rich man's Torrey Mitchell/ poor man's Matt Cullen, that type of "reliable 3rd line center" that finds a job moving around, so I expect he's about to enter the "journeyman" part of his career soon.

this could very well happen, whether they opt for a "smoother" transition as I'm suggesting, or a more abrupt one as you're implying... anyway I really like the team's direction so far

Let us see who is laughing after the Habs trade for Necas and Zegras, then sign Stamkos and win the cup in 2025!!!!!
- Mashadar

... if that happens then I'll be ready to retire from Habs fefandom.
Hope you guys will come to visit me in the old folks home ... we'll reminisce about Aurèle Joliat and Gump Worsley.

Mitchell made over $13M in his career... so not so much of a poor man.

If they take on Price's contract and send us a 2nd round pick.

They can have Kovacevic and YoLo, too.

oh I know, and I like the guy, I just consider him slotted for a bottom 6 role, with no need for comparisons or over-analyzing lol

No pressure to be the big star, still make millions of dollars, have a good life, play hockey.

8.7 million salary so hope they retain but maybe they swap 4 and 5 overall picks

oh sure, I agree.

but that player could still be described as a "poor man's player XYZ", despite the good life and the millions he's making.

I meant, retail Laine, as in keep him.
