So it's all coaching/brass? If that's the case, I'd argue the players aren't very resilient if they're being held down by people who never touch the ice.
Personally, I think you're right, the coaching is a big missing piece...that being said it further cements my thoughts that guys like Eichel, RoR and Okposo weren't the leaders people think they are. - QuinnFan
I feel effort is also part of it or lack of effort
IMO the players are not blameless for the last 2 seasons, more so this past season

trending downward and lost a step
probably putting up 3rd line numbers 5 on 5
if getting 2 guys for the top 9 I can find better options and would probably rather ride it out with savoie or kulich than bringing saad in the mix |

The defense isn't out of this world(the goalie yeah), how many times does McDavid have the puck in the slot area/high cirlce and he franking passses off trying for a back door tap in. Shoot the damn thing.
Just last night he did like 3-4 times in the last 5-10 minutes when they almost tied it. - DirtyDan
He can’t get to this middle, which is what he’s trying to do when he goes whirling dervish out along the wall and across the top of the zone. They are passing him off to the next defender brilliantly (most of the time). Then their sticks are always active in breaking up the passes.
And when that doesn’t work, Bob is there. |

Why we a ting like Bobrovsky hasn’t always been awesome? - Jet Jaguar BD
Because he struggled with a run and gun team that frequently left him hanging and having to be Superman every game. The “Look out Bob” style of defense. He couldn’t trust his D and was frequently caught cheating for the cross ice pass to the guy standing there all alone. Goalie stats are (can be) the most misleading of all |

Bills have certainly come close recently. It gives me hope that the curse is just that, and not some sort of issue with the city. - QuinnFan
It's an issue with the city.
You have two options: A safe space work environment where you have to walk on eggshells, and the opposite: a Trump obsessed, walk-all-over-everyone environment. Both environments are full of fat, hung over labor fakers who hate what they do for a living and don't want to be better or help one another.
Outside of work, everyone drives like a maniac, no one comes to a full stop at a stop sign or red light, pedestrians can't hardly cross the road, everyone stops in the crosswalk, no one yields or understands who has the right of way (because no one comes to a complete stop) and you have to drive 45 minutes to get anywhere.
The harbor sucks, the mayor is a joke, the police suck, the city is massively segregated, Elmwood and Allentown suck and I don't care what any of you cheap dates think, there's maybe 2 or 3 actually cool, hole-in-the-wall, memorable establishments and the rest are phony money traps full of townies front and back or strip malls.
Our local produce is a travesty in almost every grocery store, our pickup truck per person ratio is rivaled only by our Dollar General per square mile ratio and there isn't a large public space reasonably located with amenities that isn't shrouded in a cover-charge of some sort.
Drunks and druggies. It won't change. |

You don't understand. We do not receive good produce out here, and the local farms and greenhouses aren't large enough or good enough to travel to.
I really feel bad for us. We really, really do not have good produce. We have cheap, good dairy. A lot of places don't have good dairy, and it's expensive. We're lucky in that regard. But I would trade good dairy for good produce.
We have good water in WNY. That makes our stuff taste a little better, especially the restaurants, which is why everyone thinks the food sucks everywhere else. It doesn't, they just don't have quality water, so eating out isn't as good.
There's so much we don't have in Buffalo. It really upsets me how stagnant this city and region has been, and a bunch of "loft" apartments and a Costco aren't what we needed. |

Made a point I really believe in. They need to find the next Joshua, not pay a big premium to try to sign the one who likely just had his career year.

What part of Buffalo do you live in, I mean the Eden Market and Braymillers and such are only a 30 minute drive from Buffalo and then you can hit the Rez for Gas, Cigarettes, Bud if need be. Could be Home, Stoned and eating fresh grapes in a Hour and a Half. |

I agree, but nothing in the system that matches that and most teams don't let the young ones go if they have them. |

Joshua was signed as a Group 6 UFA away from StL. Carrier was taken in an expansion draft.
A lot of these guys are slow to develop and are out there. Obviously Adams doesn't believe in drafting them, so he's going to need to get better at acquiring them.

Only got to catch a few minutes in and out, but will finish tonight.
What I caught was interesting.
I'd like to think this is a place where the analytics department earns their pay, but based on past offseasons, doesn't seem like they're listened to for final decisions.
That or their collective opinion sucks. |

Gotta get to the end. They mock KA calling Girgs special, pretty funny.
Also discussed a couple C's I've mentioned: Blueger and Faksa. Not exciting, but realistic.

Yes there out there, but you need to see it and not miss it. Adams seems to have a One Track mind in players he likes or is able to evaluate in his way. He doesn't veer much. |

Sounds like he's learned that he need those types of players. He has a team of scouts. He's gotta figure it out and he's not in position to overpay on a 4th line the way he has been.
Some GM's have a long development time frame.

Agreed on being realistic, Adams gonna have his hands full getting players to come here. |
