Some day the NHL will pay just like the NFL and it will change the game.

Probably. I'm just bored at this point, trying to drum up some poop.

Lots of trade candidates out there.

Laine, Necas, Ehlers, Mikheyev, Guentzel, among others.

Laine - Turd or not, he fits the timeline and Hawks have the cap space. If he recovers from his player assistance situation, stays healthy and returns to his younger day production (three big IFs I know), he can serve his purpose for 2 years playing with Bedard. I wouldn't believe his price would be high. Maybe get something with him as a sweetener.

Necas - 25 years old. Great age to sign for 7 or 8 years. CAR looking for "star power" in return. I don't think the 18th or Toronto 1st in combination with Reichel or Kurashev will do it. Anyone up for trading KK or Vlasic?

Ehlers - Maybe a good addition if he signs an extension. WPG probably looking for NHL talent too.

Mikheyev - Camp dump from VAN. 2 more years at 4.75M. Didn't have a good last season 1 goal in the last 61 games, but came off knee surgery. Fits the timeline, but could be a waste of money.

Guentzel - Probably wants at least a 6-7 year contract at 8M. 30 years old. A contract like that won't age well

Laine looks like he is available.
Why not trade a prospect/pick/ + a player (though not sure who) and take him. The Blackhawks can easily afford him this year + next year(then his contract expires).

I hope Laine can pick up the pieces and revive his career, but I don't see it happening here. On NHL '25, he would be the perfect finisher for Bedard, though.

Columbus might be willing to trade him pretty cheaply at this point.

I don't understand - He chose to play hockey professionally. He knew the dangers. He still did it. Money grab at it's best!

I doubt the NHL will use that defense in court.

But if I was in a jury for this case, that would be my reasoning.

Still a month to free agency as well. Maybe another few players become available?
I wonder how the cap increasing by 4mil is going to affect the DeBrusks,Teravainens (mid level FAs etc..)probably a good chance Stamkos resigns in Tampa - Will Cirelli be available?

If you’re on the jury shouldn’t you go into the trial with an open mind then make a decision based on all the evidence?

What kind of free agent do you think the Hawks should look for? Position, tough guy, scorer or a leadership player?
