I was thinking he may be a good signing too, so long as the term isn’t too long.

I'm so sure he is an all in type of guy at game time. Talent sure, but effort not so sure.

Laine looks like he is available.
Why not trade a prospect/pick/ + a player (though not sure who) and take him. The Blackhawks can easily afford him this year + next year(then his contract expires).

Because he's a turd.

I dunno.
They have no much space and Necas want more than a raise,he wantas be in the top forward corps.

I just don't think the Hawks will offee much draft capital (especially first rounders) to pay him handsomely.

Now if they helped the Hurricanes Dee corps vancancies and 3rd round picks I see it as they could compete with other bidding teams.

I think the Hawks know where they ARE in a Necas deal and the Huuricanes know what they would love to pull in trade-wise.

Thing would have tio match up better for rthe Hawks than their trade competitors...

I don't know about the rest of you but I really like Necas as an available addition.

I don't think you can give a 25 year old 9 million dollars for one 70 point season.

If he wanted 6.5-7 that would be fine (and comparable to Cozens who matches his ups downs stats line) but more than that seems like a reach. If it was 90 or 100 maybe you could twist my arm.

The player should probably take a 2 year bridge deal and sign a big one at 27.

At first I was "heck no" on him, but considering:
10-team no trade
coming off season of 18 games 6G 3A
Concussion and broken clavicle
STILL in player assistance program

If you can get him for a 3rd and the rights to Raddysh, take the risk for two years.

Duchene showed really well in the playoffs, and throughout the year as well. He'd be in position to play top six with at least one other good player on the Hawks, so the meltdowns should be kept to a minimum.

Clavicles break all the time. One of those bones that takes not a lot of pounds per square inch to pop. Also it's a bone and not a joint.

The Concussion history is a problem and one of the rumors amongst Cbus fans is that he's in the program largely because of the post concussion symptoms.

He's chasing a cup - not sure why he'd sign with a bad team. If theyre going to throw money at anyone short term I'd rather it be Marchessault

Agree, I'd much rather be irrational with Necas than any of the other suggestions here

On Bedards line, you won't have worry about him reaching 70 pts ever again. This assumes a bit of a tough puck fighter on the other wing

You can say that about a ton of the available UFA's. If no one else will (or can) give him the term and money he is looking for, there's a shot they can. I can write that last sentence repeatedly until the offseason is over.

I'd love Marchessault as well, but it sounds like he's working with VGK as much as he can. I'm trying to concentrate on guys that have a better than 50% shot at being available.

You’re right but I was thinking as a short term stopgap he’d be fine especially getting some goal.

Ottawa says their 7th is in play. Probably looking for a goalie. Things should be interesting around the draft, especially since NJ is also looking for a goalie and say they're willing to move their 10th.

Laine seems like more of a liability than an asset. Waddell may have to attach something to the trade to move him.

To not give a call and see what it would cost is GM malpractice.
You've got a year to burn until the FA class is stronger.
You've got cap room
Could be a really good move.
If he turns out ok,you extend him or trade him for a 1st/prospect etc..

I am sure Corey Pronman's artcile dual ranking both the 2023 & 2024's top draft prospects should make all here feel good that we have two top five prospects.

Any talk about what any future UFA (especially a kid a year away from free agency) all seem to be overblown. I don't think a team trades for Necas and doesn't discuss a future deal on the spot. There is little chance teams want to deal assets for a future possible intergral piece and then end up in a year arguing with his representation and send the player packing.

Laine:
I simply do not know how much other teams are prvvy to what his "entering the programs entails." Is he in for Kuznedsov coke? Nichushkin's multiple substances?
Perry's booze? anger issues? Personality disorders? Sex addiction?

All I know is the kid is. a shot- the rest of his game will take him work I don;t think most think he has been will to do/understand etc.

For decades great scorers get to the greatest level and many leave much desired in 150 feet of the ice...

My sources tell me that the Blackhawks will reveal their first 2 selections in the 2024 NHL entry draft on June 28th.
